Chapter 792
At the same time, someone walked up beside her.
Anastasia glanced up at a young man, not much older than herself. He was passably handsome, but she didn’t like the look on his face.
She looked away, uninterested.
Coincidentally, the young man was also hesitating between the same two herbs.
And now, only one portion of each remained.
Anastasia finally made her move, reaching for the herb on the right—
Before she could touch it, another hand shot out, snatching the herb from under her
nose.
It was, of course, the young man beside her.
Anastasia looked up.
He lifted his chin with a smug, disdainful look. “This one’s mine!”
Anastasia gave him a look reserved for utter fools, ignored him, and reached further to the right, picking up the other herb.
The young man’s brow furrowed, a flicker of doubt crossing his face.
But his confidence quickly returned. Convinced he couldn’t be wrong, he sneered,
“Is the Institute letting just anyone in these days? You’d actually choose Heartbreak
Vine for this formula? Have you even studied medicine?”
She tuned out the idiot’s voice and walked over to submit her basket.
“Professor, I’m done.”
Others soon began submitting their baskets as well.
Before long, all the baskets had been collected.
Several judges walked up, inspecting the herbs in each basket, recording the contents, and assigning scores.
The judges moved past one basket, shaking their heads. They moved to the next, and shook their heads again.
Their shifting expressions sent waves of anxiety through the candidates below.
Eventually, the judges stopped shaking their heads, their faces now masks of disappointment and indifference.
Until they reached a particular basket.
“Hmm?” the first judge to see it murmured in surprise.
He quickly examined the herbs inside. A moment later, his voice filled with delighted disbelief, he exclaimed, “Someone actually got it right?!”
The statement drew everyone’s attention.
The other judges hurried over, their faces lighting up with surprise.
all correct?! looks like wethet
perfect score for this section today!”
They checked the number on the basket, surprised it didn’t belong to one of the
candidates they had favored.
“Who is Anastasia?”
Anastasia stepped forward.
In the distance, Dean Jerome’s eyes widened in astonishment. “She’s the one with the perfect score?!”
A slight smile touched Harrison’s lips, his deep eyes filled with pride and amusement.
Hearing Jerome’s comment, he asked, “Is there a problem?”
“N-no, not at all,” Jerome stammered. “I’m just… shocked.”
Back in the assessment hall, there was someone even more shocked than the dean: Yves Lee, the young man who had snatched the herb from Anastasia.
She got a perfect score? That meant he…
The judges’ voices confirmed his fears. “What a pity. This one, Yves, has one wrong
herb. He’ll have to settle for second place.”
Yves clenched his jaw and suddenly
stood up “Professors, I have something to say! I was originally going to take the Heartbreak Vine but Anastasia forcibly snatched it from me!”
All eyes turned to Yves.
Anastasia narrowed her eyes, a cold glint flashing within them.
