Chapter 369
“Darling, what do you think we should plant?” Anastasia stood on the freshly turned earth, a delicate frown creasing her lovely brows as she pondered the question.
“Roses.” Harrison didn’t hesitate.
Anastasia turned, surprised. “Roses?”
That was so… ordinary! Did her darling husband actually like them?
He just nodded.
He didn’t mention that the moment she brought up flowers, he instantly pictured the roses she’d once given him. He’d always thought roses were common— anyone could give them to a lover or sweetheart-but ever since he’d received them from her, they’d become anything but ordinary.
Now, they were the most precious flowers in the world to him.
In fact, those roses she’d given him were pressed and carefully preserved, locked away in his safe alongside his most important documents-protected with the same level of security.
“All right, then let’s plant roses!” Anastasia agreed without hesitation. The thought of filling the garden with roses alongside Harrison struck her as unspeakably romantic.
Logan, ever the thoughtful one, immediately arranged for a delivery of rose saplings.
The staff bustled about, bringing out shovels and gardening gloves.
The sight of Mr. Harrison Lancaster-usually so dignified and untouchable— rolling up his sleeves and stepping into the dirt to dig holes himself left the housekeepers exchanging astonished glances. None of them could hide their shock.
And there was Mrs. Lancaster, radiant and lively, darting around her husband and even instructing him on how to plant properly. The staff couldn’t help but feel a rush of emotion.
Who would have imagined they’d ever witness such a scene in their lifetimes?
When Mrs. Lancaster first arrived at Rosewood Manor, nobody paid her much attention. Everyone assumed she’d be gone soon enough, just like the others before her.
But not only did she stay-she became the apple of Mr. Lancaster’s eye. Now he was out here digging in the garden for her!
It was unbelievable-so much so that even the wildest tabloid writers would never dare make up something like this.
For Anastasia, gardening was no big deal. And her husband was a quick study; after a few pointers from her, he had the hang of it. Within the hour, the two of them had finished planting.
“Ta-da! Mission accomplished!” Anastasia tossed her shovel to the side, hands on her hips and beaming with satisfaction.
Harrison watched his bright-eyed wife, and even his stern features softened a little.
His gaze lingered on her pale cheek. He stepped closer, lifting his hand.
Anastasia instinctively closed her eyes. The next moment, she felt him gently wipe something from her face.
“You little rascal,” he murmured, his deep voice filled with affection.
Anastasia’s eyes flew open. “What?”
“You’ve got dirt on your face.” There was a glimmer of amusement in his eyes.
She quickly reached up and brushed her cheek, smearing a bit of leftover soil.
Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. “I don’t even know when that got there
She glanced up at his impossibly handsome face; a mischievous glint flashed in her eyes. Suddenly, she said, “Darling, you’ve got some dirt on your face too! Let me get it for you.”
“Oh?” Harrison looked down at her.
“Yeah! It’s a huge smudge, super obvious!” She widened her eyes, doing her best to look sincere. The rıghtful source is.net
He stared at her for a heartbeat, then the corners of his mouth twitched. “All right. I’ll let you do the honors.”
He even leaned down a little to make it easier for her.
Feeling his presence so close, Anastasia’s heart fluttered. She rose up on tiptoe, inching closer…
A puzzled voice suddenly broke the moment.
“What dirt? Harrison’s face is spotless! Anastasia, do you need your eyes checked?”
