Chapter 757
Maybe it was because his face looked so much like her Hubby’s…
With that thought, she turned and walked back.
“Come on, I’ll take you to get that wound looked at.”
Carter froze, not processing her words for a moment.
“Can’t you stand?” Anastasia offered him her hand.
Staring at her smooth, lovely palm, Carter hesitated for a couple of seconds before reaching out his own hand.
Anastasia pulled him up. Seeing him bite his lip, his forehead beaded with sweat as he struggled to walk, she continued to support him on the way to find a doctor.
The wound took some time to treat, and she’d forgotten her phone was on silent, so she missed Harrison’s calls. It wasn’t until she realized how much time had passed and checked her phone that she saw the missed calls.
A jolt of alarm went through her.
She was just about to call him back when a familiar voice came from behind her—
“Ana?”
She turned to see that Harrison had actually come to find her.
“What are you doing over here?” Harrison asked, walking toward her.
Suddenly, his eyes fell on Carter, and his gaze darkened for a split second.
Anastasia quickly stood up and rushed to his side. “I found Carter injured, so I brought him to get his wound treated. Hubby, are you done with your business?” “Yes.” Harrison naturally took her hand. “Anything else? If not, let’s go home.” “Nothing, nothing at all.” Anastasia turned back to Carter. “I’m leaving now. Goodbye!”
Standing next to Harrison, she seemed to come alive, her smile bright and dazzling.
Before Carter could reply, Anastasia was already walking away, hand-in-hand and shoulder-to-shoulder with the man beside her.
Left behind, Carter looked up and could only see her cheerful, skipping steps and the sweet smile she wore as she turned to flirt with her husband.
Carter watched them enter the elevator, his gaze lingering long after they were gone.
The doctor was explaining some routine care instructions, but when he looked up, he noticed that in a place as bustling as a hospital, the young man sitting there seemed. Futterly alone.
Once they were in the car, Harrison asked, as if offhandedly, “When did you get so familiar with him?”
“We’re not really familiar,” Anastasia said, shaking her head. “I’ve only met him a couple of times.”
“You like him a lot, Ana?” Harrison probed again.
This time, Anastasia caught on. She looked up with a sly smile. “Hubby, you’re not getting jealous, are you?”
Harrison gave a cool smile, ruffling her hair. “He’s just some kid who hasn’t grown up. What’s there to be jealous of?”
“Really?” Anastasia was skeptical.
She knew how possessive her husband could be in these matters,
so she explained that she li had
Fanly helped Carter because she felt sorry
for him.
Finally, she assured him, “Don’t worry, I won’t have any contact with him again.”
Although she had a strange feeling
that she didn’t dislike Carter,
considering his background, she had. no intention of getting any closer to him, lest it upset Harrison
After settling that, she asked him about Ryan.
Grandfather had told them to bring Ryan back, but she hadn’t seen him anywhere.
Harrison’s expression turned cold. “He already went back ahead of us.”
Hearing this, Anastasia’s curiosity was piqued. “Did he agree to stop taking care of Susan and her children?”
