Chapter 796
Anastasia let out a soft scoff.
Happy? How could Queena possibly be happy?
It all made sense now. Why had her Hubby shown up with Mr. Jerome out of the blue? It seemed he had been clearing the path for her.
With that realization, her urgency vanished, and she settled in to watch the show with a relaxed attitude.
Meeting Dean Jerome’s probing gaze, Queena’s smile stiffened. “If Anastasia can really get in, of course I’m happy… But Dean, I don’t want Anastasia to get special treatment just because she’s my sister. That wouldn’t be fair to the others.”
Jerome hadn’t thought much of it before, but hearing Queena’s words, a strange feeling crept into his mind.
Yes, the Institute had that rule, but it was an open secret that it wasn’t always enforced, especially in special cases. Over the years, had every single student who entered truly never treated a patient beforehand?
Impossible.
The Institute valued talent, so everyone tacitly agreed to look the other way as long as no one made an issue of it.
When Queena first stepped forward to accuse Anastasia, one could argue she was being impartial. But now that he had given her an out and she was still pressing the issue, it was hard not to suspect her motives.
“I’ve been planning to abolish this rule for a long time, and it has been officially abolished for this intake. So, from now on, there’s no need to bring it up again,” Jerome explained, adding a bit more patience to his tone in case he had misjudged her.
It wasn’t a lie. He had intended to get rid of the rule, even without Mr. Lancaster’s intervention; it just would have happened later.
But Queena didn’t buy it for a second. Seeing Harrison standing there, she was convinced the man had used his power and influence to pull strings for Anastasia.
Unwilling to let it go, she continued to press, “But Dean, if this rule was going to be abolished, why hadn’t we heard anything about it before?”
Dean Jerome looked at her, his brow furrowing deeper. “Queena, be honest with me. Is Anastasia really your sister?”
Her attitude was less like that of a sister and more like someone trying to crush a rival.
Others also looked at Queena with confusion. Some recalled the
previous incident where Queena had stormed into the exam hall to
.n
accuse Anastasia, only to be proven wrong Now hearing they weren’t blood sisters, their gazes turned speculative.
Sensing the shift in the room, Queena realized she had been too aggressive. She reined in her emotions and was about to speak Jerome continued
again wheela
“And if I remember correctly, Queena, before you joined the Institute, you had also practiced medicine privately. In fact, the professors accepted you so readily precisely because of the reputation you had built.”
“If you’re so insistent on being impartial, why didn’t I see you reporting yourself back then?”
Queena’s expression froze completely.
Whispers broke out among the students below.
Anastasia didn’t know what to say.
Trying to target her, only to have a boomerang come flying back and hit herself in
the face. How could Queena be this foolish?
She shook her head, losing interest.
At this point, Queena had no defense.
Dean Jerome shook his head internally. If he had once had high hopes for Queena,
most of those hopes had now turned to disappointment.
He was a man who valued character over ability, and right now, Queena had just dropped below his passing grade.
