Chapter 710
Barnett paused, his eyes instinctively drifting to the beautiful profile of the girl in the other car before he chuckled. “What are you talking about?”
“Isn’t it true?” Harrison’s sharp gaze fixed on him. “You seem to pay quite a bit of attention to Ana.”
Barnett sighed in resignation. “Some people just click. I liked Ana the moment I saw her, and given her relationship with you, I naturally look out for her a bit more. You’re overthinking it.”
Harrison said, “Call her by her full name. Didn’t Marcus tell you that only I am allowed to call her ‘Ana’?”
Barnett was speechless.
He fell silent for a couple of seconds, then shot Harrison a complicated look.
*So this is what a married man is like?*
In the car, Anastasia was busy texting Sonder on her phone when Harrison returned.
“Are you done already?” she asked, surprised.
Harrison hummed in affirmation, stroking her head. “Time to go home.”
Anastasia’s thoughts immediately snapped back to the present. The thought of Marina already waiting at home made her feel a surge of nervousness.
Harrison found her reaction amusing. “You’ve already met so many family members. Why are you getting nervous now?”
“How can that be the same?” Anastasia grumbled. Marina was his mother!
She had heard that mothers-in-law in wealthy, powerful families were often difficult to get along with. What would she do if Marina didn’t like her?
While she wasn’t one to let herself be pushed around, this was Harrison’s mother. For his sake, she couldn’t just be confrontational…
She stewed in her anxiety all the way home, but the moment she laid eyes on Marina, all her worries vanished into thin air.
Marina was an elegant, poised, and beautiful woman, even with age. The moment she saw Anastasia, she smiled, her eyes holding no hint of judgment or assessment only warmth and kindness.
“So this is Ana?” she asked, her tone filled with a pleasant surprise that didn’t hide her immediate fondness for Anastasia.
Anastasia’s heart eased. “M-Mrs
Harrison suddenly chuckled and squeezed her hand. “You’re supposed to call her Mom.”
Anastasia’s face instantly turned bright red as she shyly murmured, Mom.”
On the side, Lady and the others couldn’t help but smile at the scene.
Marina looked at her young daughter-in-law with growing affection. She approached with a warm smile, took Anastasia’s hand, and pressed a credit card into it.
“I came back in such a rush, I didn’t have time to prepare a proper gift This is just a little something for you to spend. Buy whatever you like, Ana. I’ll get you a formal welcoming gift later.”
Despite her words, she had of
course brought gifts. No matter how
rushed she was, Marina had bought presents for her son and
daughter-in-law. A father

It was just that in Marina’s mind, these weren’t valuable enough to be a proper first
gift for her daughter-in-law.
Anastasia was stunned by her mother-in-law’s generosity. It wasn’t that she had never seen such extravagance, but she hadn’t expected Marina to like her so much.
Instantly, any lingering worries in her heart completely vanished.
Seeing them getting along so well, both Lady and Harrison were in high spirits.
But just as the atmosphere turned warm and welcoming, a servant came to announce that Ryan Lancaster had returned-and with him were Susan Young and Crystal Lancaster! In an instant the cheerfu mood plummeted.
