Chapter 352
After her classes, Anastasia went straight home and immediately called for Logan, pulling him aside to whisper a few instructions.
“What are you two talking about?” The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the.net
Harrison appeared out of nowhere, his gaze lingering on Logan for a couple of seconds, his deep eyes narrowing with suspicion.
He didn’t look pleased, not one bit.
Logan stiffened, quickly stepping back to put a safe distance between himself and Anastasia.
“Uh, Mrs. Lancaster just gave me an errand to run,” he stammered.
“Oh? And what kind of errand can’t you tell me about?” Harrison turned to his young wife, his tone mild but his meaning clear.
Anastasia blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected her husband to get jealous over something so trivial. She never realized he could be so… possessive!
Biting back a laugh, she slipped her arm through his, swaying it playfully. “It’s nothing important, really. Just a small chore for Logan. No need to trouble my big strong husband with something so minor, right?”
Harrison’s cold expression softened a touch at her sweet words, though he couldn’t resist ruffling her hair as he replied, “Anything that concerns you is never a small matter.”
Anastasia nearly burst out laughing at the implication. Wasn’t he the cutest thing? “I get it,” she promised, her eyes sparkling. “From now on, I’ll tell you everything first-no secrets between us!”
Finally, a trace of satisfaction appeared on Harrison’s face.
“It’s such a beautiful day,” Anastasia said, quickly changing the subject and tugging him toward the garden. “Let’s go outside and get some sun, okay?”
She wasn’t hiding anything important from him—she just didn’t see the need to mention that the errand for Logan involved Aaron. No reason to put Harrison in a bad mood by bringing up that name.
What she didn’t know was that, after lulling her to sleep on the sunroom lounger and tucking a blanket around her, Harrison stepped outside and summoned Logan.
“What did Ana ask you to do?” Harrison’s voice was soft, but his stare was intense, brooking no argument.
Logan just sighed inwardly-of course, this was going to happen.
“Mrs. Lancaster asked me to, uh, have a word with the doctor who’s doing Mr. Lancaster’s medical exam he confessed.
As expected, the moment Aaron’s name came up, a storm cloud passed over Harrison’s face.
“Explain,” Harrison demanded, the single word carrying all the weight of a command.
Logan had no choice but to spill the details. “She wanted me to make sure the doctor is… cooperative.”
The next day, at school.
Students streamed in and out of the campus gates as Anastasia waited with her friends near the entrance.
“Cousin, they’re here!” Juliet tugged at her arm excitedly.
Anastasia looked up, spotting Shirley approaching with her usual entourage. Among the group, Penelope trailed along, almost hidden among the others.
Maggie and Sandra exchanged incredulous glances. “Seriously? Penelope’s still hanging around Shirley?” Maggie muttered. “After how Shirley humiliated her at the last party, I thought she’d be toast. Guess she’s got more lives than we thought.”
Notably absent from the group was Helen.
Anastasia knew exactly why-Harrison’s doing. He’d once worried about Helen, since she used to be Anastasia’s friend, but after a quick check and seeing Anastasia didn’t care, he’d told Logan to take care of it. And just like that, Helen vanished from Kingsbridge University.
“Shirley!” Anastasia called out, striding forward with her friends to block Shirley’s path.
Shirley’s eyes narrowed, wary and defensive. “What do you want, Anastasia?”
“Oh, nothing much. Just thought you might want to catch a good show.”
Anastasia’s gaze flicked over to Penelope, her lips curving into a cold, knowing smile.
She’d originally planned to send someone to fetch Penelope, but it seemed fortune was on her side-Penelope was already here.
Penelope felt Anastasia’s eyes on her and, for some reason, a chill ran down her spine. Something told her she was in for trouble.
