Chapter 771
Dr. Lee fumed, “…Such a sharp tongue!”
Anastasia ignored him and continued to check the elderly woman’s pulse.
After a moment, she withdrew her hand.
“I might have a way, but I can’t be certain. Madam, would you be willing to let me try?”
At her words, the deeply disappointed Nelson looked up abruptly, staring at her in disbelief. “Ms. Sterling, what did you say? You can treat her?!”
Anastasia answered cautiously, “I just have some ideas. I’m not entirely confident. We’ll only know if it works after we try.”
Dr. Lee and the others, who had been stunned when Anastasia first claimed she could treat her, couldn’t help but shake their heads and scoff upon hearing her follow-up.
He addressed Nelson directly, “Mr. West, you must think this through. Your mother is elderly and in poor health. Can she really withstand this kind of reckless experimentation? Don’t make a foolish decision and let someone ruin her health!”
Nelson’s resolve wavered at his words.
He asked Anastasia, “How exactly do you plan to ‘try,’ Ms. Sterling?”
Anastasia explained, “We’ll brew a remedy based on my prescription, and I’ll supplement it with a specialized massage technique.”
Hearing that it involved taking medicine, Nelson grew even more hesitant.
So far, Anastasia was the only person to suggest a possible solution, and he didn’t want to give up that hope. Yet, he was wary of her youth and didn’t fully trust her skills, afraid to risk his mother’s well-being…
“I agree. Let’s give it a try!” Just then, the old woman spoke up unexpectedly.
Her kind eyes rested on Anastasia. She had a good feeling about this young woman, who was about the same age as her granddaughter.
The girl’s gaze was clear and steady, her demeanor calm and composed. She didn’t seem like someone who acted rashly. She was willing to trust her this once.
Anastasia was a bit surprised by the matriarch’s decisiveness, but with the patient’s cooperation, things would be much easier.
She wrote out a prescription, had someone brew the medicine, and gave it to the old woman to drink. Then, she personally began massaging the woman’s legs.
After more than half an hour, she looked up and asked, “Madam, are you feeling anything?”
Mrs. West Sr. concentrated for a moment before shaking her head with a hint of disappointment.
Anastasia considered this. “Let’s try one more dose of the medicine. By this evening
at the latest, we should see some effect one way or another.”
Dr. Lee and the others, who had
stayed to watch, burst out laughing. They thought she might actually
have some skill but it turned out she was just fumbling around.
Losing all interest, they promptly bid Nelson farewell.
It was best to leave quickly. What if this girl’s meddling caused some harm to Mrs.
West Sr. and tarnished their reputations by association?
Anastasia continued to ignore them, turning to ask the elderly woman if she was willing to continue.
The matriarch thought for a moment and agreed.
Nearby, Nelson’s brow furrowed even deeper.
If he had harbored a little hope before, it was now completely gone. He no longer believed in Anastasia.
But since his mother had agreed, he couldn’t very well object in front of Anastasia. Just then, someone entered from outside-
“If it’s not working, then forget it! I’ll find another skilled doctor. How can we let someone just mess with Mom’s health like this?!”
The newcomer was a capable-looking woman in her thirties. It was Nelson’s sister, Cheryl.
Cheryl had just arrived and
happened to run into the three departing doctors. Dr. Lee, displeased with Anastasia had
naturally added fuel to the ne
fire
poisoning Cheryl’s opinion before she even met Anastasia. Her tone was now quite rude.
Anastasia turned, but before she could say anything, Cheryl addressed her directly, “You must be Ms sterling? My apologies, but we won’t be needing your service’s any longer. You may leave now!”
