Chapter 265

Anastasia was still a little worried and was about to speak when a housemaid hurried in to announce,
“Ma’am, your cousin Ms. Brennan is here!”

Anastasia immediately replied, “Bring her in, quickly!”
Juliet had taken a few days off recently, so Anastasia hadn’t seen her in a while.
Led in by the maid, Juliet’s eyes went straight to Anastasia. The moment she saw her cousin sitting in a wheelchair, her expression changed instantly—she couldn’t hide her worry and anxiety.
Only then did Juliet notice Harrison and Lady. She’d met her cousin’s husband before, but this was her first time meeting his grandmother, and she instantly felt a bit nervous.
Lady looked at her granddaughter-in-law with a mixture of guilt and affection, and she naturally extended that warmth to Anastasia’s cousin. Besides, Juliet herself looked sweet and well-mannered. Lady’s face broke into a gentle, kind smile.
“So this is Anastasia’s cousin? She looks like a lovely girl. What’s your name, dear?”
Anastasia smiled. “Her name’s Juliet, Grandma. Just call her Juliet. She’s always been a star student-top of her class since she was little!”
“Oh, really? Come here, let me have a look at you,” Lady beckoned with a smile.
“Juliet, this is your cousin’s husband’s grandmother. You can just call her ‘Grandma’ too.”
Juliet, shy and a little awkward, glanced at her cousin several more times. Seeing that, although Anastasia was in a wheelchair, she otherwise seemed fine-just an injured ankle—Juliet finally relaxed a little. She obediently walked over to Lady and greeted her softly.
In Fairhaven, not only was Mr. Harrison Lancaster shrouded in mystery, but Elder Mrs. Lancaster, or Lady as everyone called her, was just as enigmatic. Many people would give anything for a chance to curry favor with her, but most never even caught a glimpse.
Juliet never imagined she’d meet Lady so easily-and that Lady would treat her so kindly!
But by nature, Juliet was quiet and reserved. She hardly spoke unless Lady asked her a direct question, to which she responded politely and softly.
Sensing Juliet’s discomfort, Anastasia waited until she’d chatted a bit with Lady, then asked,
“Juliet, what brings you here? Did you finish what you needed to do during your leave?”
Juliet replied, “I heard something happened to you at the school anniversary, so I came to check on you
Lady smiled, “Go on, spend some time with your cousin. You two have a nice chat.”
Juliet gratefully escaped, quickly making her way to Anastasia’s side and remembering to greet Harrison with a polite, “Hello, cousin.”
Harrison nodded, his expression unexpectedly gentle. Lady shot him a surprised glance.
No one knew her grandson’s temperament better than she did—if he didn’t care for someone, he wouldn’t even spare them a look. Even with people he approved of, he rarely showed any warmth. Yet here he was, treating Juliet with surprising civility…
And she was only his wife’s cousin! If he could be so considerate even to her, it was clear just how much he cared for Anastasia.
Lady’s heart filled with both joy and sorrow at that realization.
She was glad Harrison had finally found a girl he truly cared for, but it pained her knowing that, despite this, his days might be numbered…
Harrison didn’t notice his grandmother’s look. He ruffled Anastasia’s hair and said,
“Take Juliet outside and have some fun. You can go to the garden, but don’t wander upstairs.”
Although there was an elevator, the upper floor wasn’t entirely safe. If he wasn’t with her, he couldn’t rest easy letting her go up.
Anastasia heard the protective note beneath his bossiness. Her eyes crinkled in a smile as she leaned her head into his palm and replied in a soft, playful voice,
“I know, I know!”
With that, she wheeled herself away, taking Juliet with her toward the garden.
Out of Harrison and Lady’s sight, Juliet finally let out a sigh of relief. She immediately crouched beside Anastasia.
“Let me see your foot, cousin! Where’s the injury?”
Anastasia warmed at Juliet’s obvious worry.
“It’s nothing, just a twisted ankle. Really, it’s not serious. Did you come all this way just because of that?”
“Are you sure it’s not bad? I saw a video someone posted in the group chat-if your husband hadn’t reacted so fast, you’d have fallen right off the stage!”
Juliet hadn’t been at school because of her leave, but the accident at the anniversary celebration had caused such a stir, there was no way she wouldn’t hear about it. Word was her cousin had gotten hurt and was carried off in her husband’s arms; the news had frightened Juliet so much she’d rushed over to check for herself.
