Chapter 803
Harrison gazed out the window at the passing scenery and closed his eyes.
Giving her the cold shoulder wasn’t easy on him, either.
Recalling the jarring scene at the restaurant, he knew it wasn’t her fault, but he was still consumed by a rage that felt like a knife twisting in his gut.
In that moment, he had realized just how unbearable the thought of her belonging to someone else was.
“So, what will it take for you to forgive her?” Logan ventured carefully.
Harrison shot him a cold look. “You two seem to be quite close.”
Logan immediately shut his mouth.
A man on high alert was a dangerous man.
He had done his best.
Anastasia stayed in the office, refusing to leave. She might not have much
experience in these matters, but she wasn’t a fool. This was a time for persistence.
If she left now, he would be even harder to win over later!
While waiting for Harrison to return, she even slipped out to buy a bouquet of flowers. But Harrison took so long that she dozed off again on the sofa.
When Harrison walked in, he saw her curled up on the sofa, fast asleep, with a carefully arranged bouquet of roses placed beside her.
“Regarding this project, the team is very confident. They’ve been working overtime for the past two weeks…”
Harrison suddenly raised a hand, cutting off Mr. Smith, who was giving his report from behind.
Taking a step back, Mr. Smith finally noticed the person on the sofa and quickly fell silent.
Harrison walked over, picked up a nearby throw blanket, and gently draped it over her.
The tenderness in his careful movements was impossible to miss.
He then gestured for Mr. Smith to follow him to another office.
But just as he took a step, Anastasia woke up.
“Hubby…?” She rubbed her eyes, and upon seeing Harrison, she was instantly wide awake. “You’re back!”
She snatched up the roses beside her. “Look, I went out and bought these myself. Aren’t they beautiful? They’re for you!”
Her eyes sparkled as she looked at him with a sweet smile.
Harrison glanced at them, his expression unreadable. “Have someone put them in a vase.”
Anastasia’s spirits immediately sank. “You don’t like them?”
Meeting her pitiful gaze, Harrison nearly surrendered, but he managed to restrain himself.
If he gave in so easily, how would she ever learn her lesson?
So he hardened his heart and ignored her plea, even adding, “Don’t wait up for me today. Go on home ahead of the have a reception, attend later, and if it runs late,
might not come back tonight. You
can go to bed first.”
Mr. Smith looked back and forth between them, utterly confused and afraid to speak.
Wasn’t Mr. Harrison Lancaster just so gentle when he was secretly covering her with a blanket? Why was he so cold to her face?
Or perhaps this was just how young couples interacted these days…?
Anastasia, however, was devastated and looked at him in disbelief. “You’re not even going home with me?”
He might not even come home at all?!
She wanted to protest!
But against Harrison’s iron will, her protests were clearly futile.
In the end, she was sent home by the driver because the host of the reception came to the office personally to pick Harrison up, and she couldn’t keep clinging to him.
But the more she thought about it on the way home, the more agitated she became. It was one thing
him
to ignore her, but to not even come home! How could he!
No, she had to do something!
At the reception.
Harrison was in the middle of a conversation when his phone rang.
He answered it to an anxious voice on the other end. “Harrison, you need to come home! Ana has a fever!”
