Chapter 380
Anastasia felt as if she and Harrison were a pair of lovestruck newlyweds. Every little thing he did every word, every gesture sent her heart racing.
Take this morning, for example. His bossy demand had left her pulse thundering wildly. When she glanced up at him, she couldn’t help but break into a radiant smile, her eyes brimming with affection.
She didn’t realize that sometimes, even in silence, she could be utterly captivating.
Nor did she notice the man holding her, his gaze growing darker and more intense with every passing second.
The next morning, it was no surprise that Anastasia slept in.
When she finally woke, she found Harrison propped up against the headboard, shirt slightly undone, one hand lazily holding a book, the other draped loosely around her shoulders. He looked every bit the relaxed yet possessive lion, keeping her close with a grip that was gentle but unmistakably his.
Nestled against him, Anastasia caught a tantalizing glimpse of his toned chest beneath his shirt. Her eyes lingered just a moment too long.
Harrison noticed her stirring. “Awake?” he murmured.
Still groggy, she nodded, then glanced at the clock-and instantly bolted upright. “It’s ten o’clock?!”
She made to scramble out of bed, but his arm snaked around her waist, pulling her effortlessly back into his embrace.
“I already called in for you. No school today.”
Relief washed over her, and she melted back against him. But after a second, she couldn’t help but look up at him, torn between embarrassment and indignation. At last, she whispered, “Darling… next time, could you maybe… take it a little easier?”
Harrison didn’t look up from his book, his expression unreadable. “What was that?”
Anastasia’s cheeks turned scarlet. “I said, next time, could you-”
“No.” Harrison Lancaster cut her off, utterly unapologetic.
She stared at him, speechless, her eyes wide with outrage.
Setting his book aside, Harrison finally turned his full attention to her. Seeing her puffed-up cheeks and helpless glare, a hint of a smile flickered in his eyes as he absently smoothed her hair. Read complete versıon only at ⓝovelFind.net
“If you’re feeling weak, I can have someone bring you a restorative breakfast. Or better yet, my grandmother’s been fussing over you—maybe I’ll ask her to send over some homemade chicken broth.”
“No!” Anastasia shot back instantly.
If he actually did that, she’d never live it down!
She was still blushing and half-wrestling with Harrison when a gentle knock sounded at the door. A maid called through, “Ma’am, Ms. Brennan is here!”
Juliet?
Anastasia snapped to attention, scrambling out of bed.
This time, Harrison didn’t stop her. She threw on some clothes in record time and hurried downstairs.
“Cousin!” Juliet greeted her at the bottom of the stairs, her wide, honest eyes flickering upstairs in concern. “Did I interrupt something important? I hope I’m not bothering you
Anastasia’s face flushed. “No, no, it’s fine—nothing you need to worry about Juliet relaxed, finally reassured.
She hadn’t come with any particular business—it was just that ever since Benson’s engagement to Penelope had been announced, Juliet was a bundle of nerves. She knew if Penelope ever became her sister-in-law, her brother’s life would be over!
Anastasia grabbed her phone, sent off a couple of quick messages, and narrowed her eyes, trying to put Juliet at ease. “Don’t worry. Penelope’s not going to get anywhere after today.”
Juliet’s eyes sparkled. “Really? Did you do something, cousin? Tell me!”
Anastasia just shot her a sly, conspiratorial look and wagged her finger. “That’s a secret. But you’ll find out soon enough.”
