Chapter 688
There were only two women in the room. Gordon’s eyes immediately fell on
Anastasia. “Mr. Lancaster, I have no idea!” he exclaimed, then immediately rounded on her. “Who are you? Who let you in? Get out immediately!”
Anastasia blinked.
Logan closed his eyes.
Harrison’s face turned black.
Logan stepped forward. “Gordon, allow me to introduce you. This is Ms. Anastasia Sterling, Mr. Lancaster’s wife.”
Harrison’s voice was cold enough to freeze water. “I was asking you about Crystal.” The triumphant look on Gordon’s face froze. He stared at Anastasia in disbelief, then at the disheveled Crystal on the floor, and a cold sweat broke out on his brow. “N-no, Mr. Lancaster, I… I didn’t know this was your wife… As for Ms. Lancaster
“Don’t blame Gordon,” Crystal spoke up from the floor, clutching the jacket, too embarrassed to stand. “I insisted on coming in. I was just bringing you some soup
“This is my office. Does any random person get to just walk in?” Harrison ignored her, his furious gaze fixed on Gordon. “Who gave you the authority to let people in here?”
Gordon was drenched in sweat. He knew perfectly well that no one was allowed in Mr. Lancaster’s office. He had let Crystal in hoping to curry favor. He was aware of her background and had hesitated at first, but she had been carrying the lunch box, referring to Harrison affectionately as her “brother,” and said she was bringing him food. He had assumed they were close.
He had secretly let her in, thinking he
was orchestrating a pleasant
surprise for his boss. He had even
been daydreaming about a promotion. But looking at the situation now-Mr. Lancaster’s terrifying expression the fact he
wouldn’t even spare Crystal
glance-it was clear he was anything but pleased.
He was finished.
“Mr. Lancaster, was wrong!” Gordon said, immediately throwing Crystal under the bus. “But Ms. Lancaster tricked me! She said she wanted to give you a surprise and implied you two were very close.” That’s the only reason I let her in!”
Crystal’s expression stiffened.
“Ms. Lancaster, please get dressed,” a cool voice interjected. It was Anastasia.
Her words drew everyone’s attention back to Crystal’s state. Anastasia’s jacket was short, and it didn’t cover everything. Her bare legs were visible, as was a corner of the towel beneath.
The storm on Harrison’s face darkened. “Who gave you permission to use my lounge to shower?” A woman who wasn’t even his stepsister had been in his private lounge, using his bathroom, his towel. What was she trying to do?
Crystal’s face was beet red. She kept her head down. “I’m sorry, I spilled the soup and got my clothes dirty. I had to wash up
Anastasia, standing with her arms crossed, let out an audible, mocking scoff. Dirty clothes? She had seen the soup, the container was almost full. Besides, even if she had made a terrible mess, wouldn’t a normal person just endure it and go home to change?
Annoyed, she repeated, “Ms. Lancaster, please put your clothes on.”
With that, she walked over and pulled the lounge door shut, closing Crystal inside.
