Chapter 727
When they were back in Fairhaven, Harrison had looked into why the Austin family had suddenly bailed out her company.
His investigation led him to Bruno, who had sent Anastasia some rare medicinal herbs for Harrison’s treatment. The herbs were incredibly hard to find, and Bruno, all the way in Riverton, had gone to great lengths to acquire them.
Although he couldn’t figure out how the two had met, Bruno’s actions suggested they were quite close.
As they were chatting, Anastasia spotted Queena.
Queena didn’t look pleased, and judging by the direction she was coming from
had she just been to see Mr. Brown?
A faint smile touched Anastasia’s lips.
It seemed Queena hadn’t gotten the result she was hoping for.
It made sense. In her past life, even after winning the formula at the auction, Queena hadn’t been able to complete it right away when she met with Mr. Brown. She’d had to ask him for an extra two days.
By then, her mother’s medical journals had fallen into Penelope’s hands, and naturally, Penelope hadn’t kept their contents from Queena.
In the end, using those journals, Queena had provided novel insights that, while not completing the formula entirely, had astonished Aubrey. He had been so impressed that he gave her the completed formula and championed her career from then on.
But this time, with Anastasia’s own stellar performance fresh in his mind, why would Aubrey even give Queena a second glance?
The thought of Queena losing such a powerful ally in this life filled Anastasia with a quiet joy. She retracted her gaze and, before she knew it, had polished off the entire bunch of grapes in front of her.
Harrison watched her with amused exasperation. Seeing her subconsciously reach for more, he gently cupped her jaw. “Those were just chilled. Don’t eat too many, or your stomach will hurt.”
Oh.”
The party on the cruise lasted until midnight, but Anastasia started to get sleepy and couldn’t stay up that late, so they made an early exit.
Before bed, Anastasia couldn’t resist taking out the bracelet she’d won at the
auction. She slipped it onto her wrist, turning it over and over to admire it.
Harrison happened to walk out of the bathroom just then, and a slight smile played on his lips when he saw her. “You like it?”
“I love it!”
His smile widened.
After getting into bed, he noticed she still hadn’t taken it off. “Not ready to sleep yet?” Thɪs chapter is updated by
“Of course I am.” Anastasia snuggled obediently under the covers. “I want to sleep with it on.”
She paused, then asked, “Is that okay?”
Harrison chuckled. He felt a mix of fond exasperation and genuine happiness seeing how much she adored it.
He leaned over and kissed the tip of her nose. “Of course it is.”
But he didn’t stop there. He moved to her rosy lips, his well-defined fingers gently parting the fabric of her nightgown.
The sudden shift in atmosphere
caught Anastasia off guard. Her
face flushed as she looked up at the
devastatingly handsome man.
“Hmm?” Harrison’s gaze was deep and intense.
“Every day ahem, isn’t that a bit too frequent? Could it be… bad for you?” Her cheeks were burning her voice trailing off to a whisper as she found
herself unable to meet his eyes.
A soft chuckle came from above. Harrison’s voice was low. “Whether it affects my health. didn’t you already look that up on your phone Ana?”.
Mortified, Anastasia wanted to shrink under the covers. “You looked at my phone!”
His warm breath ghosted over her skin, his voice a low, seductive rasp. “So, about every day… is that okay with you?”
Gazing at his handsome face, hearing that voice that could make anyone swoon, Anastasia felt her head start to spin.
“I… I guess it’s okay
