Chapter 782
She had just finished breakfast and was about to head to the study to read when she got a call from Uncle Murray. He said that Juliet Brennan was coming to Riverton today, accompanied by Benson Brennan, who was preparing to return to work.
Anastasia was surprised. “Today? Why didn’t Juliet tell me?”
She asked for the flight’s arrival time and, seeing it was in just two hours, she changed her clothes and headed to the airport to pick them up.
“Anastasia!”
Juliet’s eyes lit up the moment she saw Anastasia. She ran forward and threw her arms around her.
“I’ve missed you so much,” she said, her voice a mix of excitement and longing.
Anastasia hugged her back, smiling as she nuzzled her cousin’s soft cheek. “I’ve missed you too.”
Benson walked up behind them, dragging a suitcase. He stopped in front of Anastasia.
Anastasia gave him a questioning look.
“You hugged my cousin. Aren’t you going to hug me?” he asked, his expression unreadable.
Anastasia’s mouth twitched. She generously gave him a hug. “I missed you too!”
Juliet giggled beside them and tattled, “Anastasia, he really did miss you. He kept nagging me while I was studying, asking why I was so slow and hadn’t finished my books yet. If he wasn’t waiting for me, he would’ve run off to Riverton to find you ages ago!”
Anastasia immediately turned her head. “Is that true?”
Benson looked a bit flustered and shot Juliet a warning glance. “I have urgent work to attend to. My manager has been calling me nonstop.”
“Oh, I see!” Anastasia stifled a laugh, deciding not to expose him further.
After leaving the airport, the three of them had lunch. Afterwards, Anastasia asked Juliet where she wanted to stay.
“You can stay with me, or if you prefer, I’ve already arranged a place for you nearby.”
“I’ll stay in the other place,” Juliet chose without hesitation.
She was more reserved by nature, and the Lancaster family was large. She knew
she would feel uncomfortable living at the family estate.
“What about you?” Anastasia asked, turning to Benson.
Benson shook his head. “Don’t worry about me. I have a place here, and I have to get back to work tomorrow anyway.”
His place in Riverton was arranged
by his company. He used to think it was convenient and saved him the
trouble of looking for a place
himself, but now, Benson started considering buying a house here.
It wasn’t just about finding a place for Juliet. If Anastasia ever had a fight with Harrison… she would have somewhere to go.
Anastasia had no idea what was going through his preoccupied mind. She took Juliet to the house she had arranged.
It was located not far from the Lancaster estate, making it convenient for Juliet to visit her.
Although Anastasia was wealthy, finding such a suitable house in this prime location was a bit difficult. In the end, she had to ask Harrison for help.
After helping her cousin move in, Anastasia saw that it was getting late, so she brought both of them back to the Lancaster estate.
Since they were in Riverton, it was only polite to pay a visit.
Lady Lancaster had met Juliet before. Her affection for Anastasia extended to her cousin, and Juliet’s quiet gentle nature made her nstantly fond of the girl the
moment she saw them, her face
broke into a smile.
“It’s wonderful to have you here, Juliet. Now Ana will have some company instead of being cooped up at home all day.”
She then took Juliet and Benson by the hand and personally introduced them to the rest of the Lancaster family.
Benson had originally planned to leave after dinner at most, but the matriarch was so warm and welcoming that he and his sister ended up staying the night.
