Chapter 718
“I don’t have any sisters. You must have run into a con artist,” she said directly to the waiter.
Having spent so much time in Fairhaven, Marcus knew a bit about Anastasia’s
family situation and chimed in lazily, “Plenty of people want to see Harrison, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone so shameless.”
The waiter was instantly embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Mr. Marcus Jackson, I didn’t know
Marcus waved his hand. “It’s fine. It’s not your fault.”
The waiter hastily retreated.
Down below, Queena kept glancing upward. When she saw the waiter returning, she relaxed and a smile touched her lips. Without waiting for him to speak, she took two steps forward. “Let’s go now. I’m afraid there won’t be time once the auction starts
A flash of disdain crossed the waiter’s eyes. “Miss, Mr. Harrison Lancaster’s wife said she has no such relative!”
Queena froze, a surge of fury rising within her.
Damn that Anastasia! Read full story at.net
She forced herself to maintain her smile, adopting a look of magnanimous helplessness. “My sister can be a bit willful. She’s probably still angry with me The waiter didn’t believe her for a second, and his expression grew even more contemptuous.
Mr. Jackson had confirmed it himself, and Mr. Harrison Lancaster hadn’t refuted it. How could it be fake?
A con artist is a con artist. To be so shameless as to deny it after being exposed… what thick skin!
Without waiting for Queena to say more, he muttered a few perfunctory words and quickly left.
With her sharp eyes, Queena couldn’t miss his disbelief and disdain. She was so furious she nearly coughed up blood!
George walked over. “What happened?”
Queena gritted her teeth. “Mr. Harrison Lancaster won’t see me. He probably doesn’t even know it’s me because Anastasia told him I’m a fraud
George frowned and shook his head. “Why is she so foolish? The only thing Mr. Harrison Lancaster could possibly see in her is her face. He’s still in the honeymoon phase now, but once he gets tired of her he’ll likely toss her aside. What will she do then?”
“With an outstanding and promising sister like you, she should be
fawning over you, using Mr. Harrison Lancaster’s interest in her beauty to help you climb higher with the
Lancaster family’s connections. But instead she’s deliberately
obstructing you? Utterly
shortsighted!”
He thought for a moment more. “Your excellence is for all to see; she can’t hold you back. Later, find a chance to get in front of Mr. Harrison Lancaster. He’s surely heard your name and will be more than happy to associate with you.”
“As for this connection through Anastasia, it’s better not to use it! I was worried that after he gets tired of her for relying on her looks, she might drag you down with her!”
Queena nodded, her confidence in her own abilities firm.
So many influential figures were willing to befriend her and show her respect. Mr. Harrison Lancaster was only an exception because he hadn’t met her yet. Once he did, he would be no different.
With that thought, her mood improved slightly, though the thought of Anastasia still annoyed her.
Hmph, just wait until she successfully won Mr. Harrison Lancaster’s admiration…
Half an hour later, the auction began.
Anastasia was there for the prescription her mother had left behind, so she had little interest in the other items. She watched the proceedings from the side, with no intention of bidding.
Barnett, however, asked her, “Isn’t there anything you like, Anastasia?”
Marcus chimed in, “Yeah, don’t try to save Harrison’s money. All his money is yours!”
Harrison didn’t object.
Anastasia smiled and shook her head. “I haven’t seen anything I like yet. Didn’t they
say there’s a prescription today? I’ll wait for that to come up.”
Although she said that, Barnett and Marcus still bid on a few expensive items for her, calling them welcome gifts.
