Chapter 752
His gaze was intimidating, but his touch remained gentle. “My Ana is so clever.”
Anastasia, both proud and a little shy, lifted her chin and snuggled against his chest.
After a moment, she couldn’t help but yawn.
“Sleepy?” he asked, kissing her lips. “Go to sleep.”
Anastasia mumbled a protest, claiming she wasn’t tired, but within two minutes, her breathing evened out as she slept soundly in his arms.
Harrison looked down, gazing at the woman in his arms, his heart overflowing with tenderness.
He placed a soft kiss on her forehead, then picked up his phone. His eyes turned cold as he sent a text, before he wrapped his arms protectively around her and drifted off to sleep.
When Anastasia woke, she felt the familiar weight of an arm around her waist and instinctively snuggled closer to his chest in a natural gesture of affection.
A couple of seconds passed-
Huh?
She suddenly became more alert, her eyes snapping open. Looking up, she saw the firm line of his jaw.
“Hubby, you’re still here?!” she exclaimed in surprise.
Harrison opened his eyes and pulled her back into his arms as she tried to sit up. His voice, husky and deep from sleep, was undeniably sensual. “Where are you going?”
“Back to your business trip!”
Harrison found her reaction both exasperating and amusing. “Didn’t you say you missed me on the phone last night? Is this how you show it, by trying to rush me out the door?”
“I do miss you, but your work is important too…”
“Don’t worry about it.” Harrison sighed, patting her head. “I’ve delegated the rest to Logan. He knows what to do.”
Before she could reply, he murmured, “I promised I’d only be gone three days, but it’s been four. How about Hubby makes it up to Ana?”
The moment their eyes met, Anastasia knew exactly what he meant, and her cheeks flushed. “You’re just using that as an excuse…!”
“So, will Ana let me?” he asked, his gaze intense and burning.
Anastasia averted her eyes, whispering a protest, “It’s already eight o’clock.
Everyone else is awake…”
“It’s fine. They’ll understand.”
He rolled on top of her.
And so, that day, Anastasia not only missed breakfast but lunch as well.
As she came downstairs, her eyes met Emily’s teasing, knowing gaze, and she was so embarrassed she nearly missed a step.
Harrison quickly caught her hand. “Watch your step.”
He looked sharp and refreshed, showing no signs of fatigue from his business trip or the late-night journey back.
Anastasia tugged at his hand in annoyance turning her head, she noticed the top two buttons of his shirt were casually undone, Normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but as he moved, faint scratch marks were visible just above his collarbone.
Her ears burned. If they walked over like that, with everyone around, wouldn’t they all see?
She quickly pulled him to a stop. “Wait a second!”
“Hmm?”
Anastasia stepped forward and fastened the two open buttons.
Harrison was confused at first, but then understanding dawned, and a slight smile played on his lips.
Meeting his gaze, Anastasia looked away, flustered and annoyed.
Emily couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore. “Well, look at you, Ana. Such a
devoted wife, buttoning Harrison’s shirt for him.”
Debby also smiled warmly. “We’re just at home, dear. No need to be so formal.”
Both older women were experienced
enough to know exactly what was
going on; they were close with
Anastasia and were just having
some fun teasing her.
Anastasia stammered awkwardly, “…I was just worried he might get cold.”
Watching the couple approach
hand-in-hand, Lady smiled, her eyes
full of
Warmth. “You two mus
be
hungry had the staff keep lunch
warm for you. Go on and eat.”
