He couldn’t find her when he returned to Fairhaven, yet he had run into her here. Was this fate?
Anastasia was unaware that her chance appearance had brought someone such quiet joy. She arrived at the company and went straight to Harrison’s office, only to learn that he was still in a meeting.
She waited in his office, playing on her phone. Her game ranking had dropped twice by the time Harrison finally appeared.
“What took you so long?” The moment she saw him, she tossed her phone aside and threw herself into his arms.
“How long have you been waiting?” Harrison asked, wrapping his arms around her.
“Over an hour! Any later and we would have missed dinner at home,” Anastasia said, urging him to leave.
But Harrison stroked her head and said apologetically, “I might have to work late tonight. I’m afraid you’ll have to go back by yourself.”
“Work late?” Anastasia looked up in surprise.
“There are still a few things I need to handle today,” Harrison said. “I’ll have Logan take you home?”
Anastasia shook her head. “If you’re working fate, let him stay and help you. He doesn’t need to drive me. But Hubby, are you in some kind of trouble?”
“No.” Harrison chuckled and pinched her cheek. “Who would dare cause trouble for your husband?”
Anastasia was immediately relieved. “Alright then, I’ll go home by myself.”
She wanted to wait for him, but she was afraid her presence would be a distraction and slow down his work.
“Okay, go on.” Harrison leaned down and kissed her.
“One more!”
Harrison couldn’t help but smile. He held her by the waist and indulged her.
As Anastasia was leaving, she ran into Barnett.
“Barnett!” She instinctively covered her mouth. “Ahem, what are you doing here?”
