Even though Marlon had backed out of the deal in the end, if Barry had truly deceived him, it wouldn’t stop the man from hating Barry!
After all, his wife’s life was on the line.
Barry’s face paled slightly as he snapped, “Such a sharp tongue! Who gave you permission to speak to your elder like that?”
“I did. Do you have a problem with that?” Harrison lifted his cold, imposing gaze.
“I won’t stoop to your level!” Barry turned and walked away, his bravado fading.
He had the guts to cause trouble for Harrison, but he didn’t dare go too far when confronting his nephew face-to-face.
Watching him leave, Anastasia snorted before pulling Harrison back toward the office.
“You still haven’t answered my question. Why the sudden move into the medical industry?”
Harrison sat down, pulling her onto his lap.
Since she already knew, he didn’t hide it from her anymore.
“You’re going to be a doctor. I don’t want to be completely ignorant of that world. How else can I help you in the future?”
Anastasia was touched, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I can take care of myself, and I have my professor. You don’t need to work so hard for me.”
“It’s not hard,” he said, gazing at her tenderly. “I just set a direction. The people below me will handle the rest.”
Anastasia didn’t believe him, but she didn’t say anything more.
Once he made a decision, she knew she couldn’t easily change his mind.
Harrison glanced at the time. It was nearing the end of the workday. He pulled her to her feet. “I want to show you something.”
“What is it?” Anastasia asked, curious.
Harrison didn’t say, simply leading her to the company’s warehouse.
There, a collection of precise and advanced medical instruments appeared before her eyes.
Anastasia’s eyes widened. She ran forward, examining them one by one, realizing they were all state-of-the-art medical equipment, more advanced than anything she
had even on the market!
“Do you like it?”
Harrison watched her delighted expression with a smile.
Anastasia ran back into his arms. “I love it!”
She stood on her toes and kissed his chin. “You’re the best, Hubby!”
The gift left Anastasia overjoyed for the rest of the day. That night, she was too excited to sleep, tossing and turning in bed.
Harrison pulled the energetic woman into his arms, a little exasperated. “You like it that much?”
“It’s not just that.” In the dim light of the bedside lamp, Anastasia’s eyes sparkled as she looked at him with fervent affection. “I was just thinking about how much you love me, and it makes me too happy to sleep.”
Her direct words made the corners of Harrison’s lips curve into a smile. He stroked
her hair, looking down at her in the darkness. “And does Ana love me?”
Anastasia snuggled closer, kissing the corner of his lips and whispering shyly, “I do…”
Harrison’s heart skipped a beat, and the blood in his veins suddenly felt like it was on fire.
He stared at her for two long seconds before pulling her clothes away.
The next morning, Anastasia walked into the Global Harmony Medical Institute with
a yawn, only to be informed that she had a mission that day.
The person notifying her said, “This mission is specifically for new students. Five of you will be going, and you’re on the list.”
Remembering what she had learned about the mission’s subject yesterday, Anastasia was instantly wide awake.
“Besides me, who else is going?”
“It’s based on the assessment
rankings. So, it will be you and the
students ranked second through fifth, along with three senior
students to guide you. Queena will be one of them.”
