Chapter 988
Quite by chance, she ran into Mignon at the Austin estate.
Mignon was there to see Bruno, delivering a medical prescription.
Anastasia overheard a few words and was surprised.
She knew Bruno had recently taken on a patient who needed a specific prescription. She had wanted to offer her help, but Bruno told her he knew who had it and would contact them himself.
She never imagined that person was Mignon.
When Mignon was leaving, Anastasia walked her to the door. “I heard from Mr. Austin that the prescription is incredibly valuable,” she couldn’t help but ask. “Did Mrs. Calderon just give it away like that p>
Mignon smiled, a wistful look on her face. “The prescription is certainly precious, but it’s of no use in my hands. If it can help someone, I’m sure its true owner would be happy p>
“Its true owner p>
“Yes,” Mignon said, her thoughts returning to the present. She looked at Anastasia with a nostalgic glint in her eyes. “It belonged to my dearest friend. She was a brilliant doctor, but sadly, she’s no longer with us p>
After seeing Mignon off, Anastasia went back inside and asked Bruno, “Mr. Austin, who wrote that prescription p>
“Ah, that was written by someone truly remarkable. Wilma. Have you ever heard that name p>
“Wilma?” Anastasia’s first thought was how similar the name was to her mother’s.
Cecilia Brennan, Wilma.
She shook her head. “I haven’t. Who was she p>
“It’s not surprising you haven’t heard of her. According to her friend, she passed away many years ago,” Bruno said, his voice tinged with regret.
“She was a true genius. Everyone in Riverton’s medical community knew of her back then, but she was like a shooting star-her presence, from her appearance to her disappearance, spanned less than two years p>
“Many people tried to find her after she vanished, but she was always a mysterious figure who kept her identity well-hidden, Most people. didn’t even know what she looked like, so there was no way to track her down p>
“It’s only now that I’ve learned she passed away p>
He held up the prescription. “This is one she left behind. You can take a look. Your style is actually quite similar to hers. But that makes sense, since you started out by studying your mother’s notes and your mother learned from Wilma p>
Anastasia froze. “What p>
“Your mother knew Wilma. You didn’t know? Well, it’s understandable. You were just
a child when your mother was around, and adults don’t usually discuss these things with children p>
He explained further, and Anastasia finally understood the whole story.
Her mother had a certain reputation in Fairhaven, but she wasn’t widely known outside of it. She had become acquainted with Bruno and other respected figures in the medical field by chance, becoming pen pals and regularly exchanging letters to discuss their findings.
Because her mother’s style was so similar to Wilma’s, people had grown curious. Her mother later explained that she considered herself a semi-apprentice of Wilma’s.
Bruno had even invited Cecilia to come and develop her career in Riverton, and Cecilia had said she was considering it. But tragically, the opportunity never came.
From what Bruno said, it seemed impossible for Wilma and Cecilia to be the same person, yet Anastasia couldn’t shake a strange feeling in her heart.
Later, she contacted Mignon to ask about Wilma.
Others might not have been able to find out about Wilma’s hidden identity, but as her best friend, Mignon was sure to know something.
