Chapter 1007
Chapter 1016:
With the food box in hand, Raul gently shook it and broke the silence. “Betty, I’ve brought some delectable food. Would you care for a bottle of red wine? Let’s have a drink!”
Bettina, momentarily stunned by Raul’s presence, suddenly blurted out, “I heard Mr. Lopez removed your position at Royal Garden Corporation. Is that true?”
Raul’s expression darkened. The speed at which the news had spread took him aback.
He conceded, “Yes, it’s true.”
The mere mention of it stoked his anger. Initially, he believed Milton had spoken in haste, and he had even pleaded with him to reconsider, urging him to avoid hasty decisions. Little did he expect that Milton would take such a drastic step. How dare he!
Milton not only terminated his position but also relocated all of his belongings to a new office.
In the span of a single day, Milton had orchestrated this upheaval. Raul found himself torn between gratitude and frustration toward Milton.
“What’s going on with Mr. Lopez? Did you quarrel with him?” Bettina inquired, perplexed by Milton’s recent behavior.
Just days prior, Milton had been providing their law firm with numerous resources and cases, but now, he had severed ties with Candice and was driving Raul away.
“What was his endgame?” Bettina mused.
“How could I possibly know? Damn it!” Raul muttered in frustration, placing the sushi on the table. “Let’s not dwell on it for now. I’ll speak to him when he’s more reasonable.”
Bettina rose from the couch and approached the table. Raul unpacked the exquisite sushi, arranging it neatly, a thoughtful gesture that touched her deeply. She recognized Raul’s genuine care for her.

While she had initially considered the prospect of moving on from Bart and building a life with Raul, her recent guilt over Candice’s suffering weighed heavily on her. She assumed she was to blame for Candice’s suffering. How could she be happy while her friend was in pain? The burden of guilt masked her natural smile.
Looking at the splendid spread before her, her appetite waned. With a heavy heart, she confessed, “Raul, I… I’ve been contemplating moving back to the Chinsea Villa Complex.”
She couldn’t keep Raul by her side all the time, especially when she was this hesitant.
The fork Raul had intended to give Bettina slipped from his hand, clattering against the table. “What do you mean?” he asked.
His face reflected his recent string of misfortunes in the past two days. First, Milton’s actions, and now Bettina’s unexpected decision?
