Milton was stunned.
Twelve weeks pregnant? He had seen the ultrasound results from Essie at East Hospital confirming an eight-week pregnancy. How could there be a four-week difference?
This meant Candice had been pregnant since their wedding night, four months ago.
He had a baby on the way!
He was taken aback at once, stumbling backward. Never before had he felt such strong emotions. His voice shook as he implored the doctor, “Doctor, can you find a way to make sure the baby makes it?”
He reached inside his coat pocket and pulled out a business card, handing it to the doctor. “I don’t care about the price!”
The doctor glanced at the black and gold business card. Milton Lopez, CEO of the Royal Garden Corporation and the wealthiest man in Ploville, stood before him. It made sense that he didn’t care about money.
The physician shook his head sadly. “Mr. Lopez, I’m sorry. I am unable to comply with your request. Here, I oversee the obstetrics and gynecology division as the chief medical officer. Less than 20% of attempts to save the developing child are successful. If there is excessive bleeding, the whole uterus will have to be removed. The repercussions could be too severe. I don’t think you want to take that chance.”
The doctor sighed and gazed at Milton. “You are still young. In the not-too-distant future, you can have another child. Keeping her healthy is our top priority right now. Sure, I’ll give it a try if you’re determined to keep the baby. However, as I said, the stakes are too high. As a doctor, I wouldn’t advise it. But the decision is yours.”
The nurse handed Milton a pen for his signature with courtesy. “Please sign the consent form for the procedure, Mr. Lopez, if you’ve made up your mind.”
She took a quick glance at the business card. That explained why she had thought he looked familiar. She likely saw him in a magazine. As it turned out, she was in front of the dream lover for any girl. He was undeniably striking. Even though he was drenched, he maintained his poise and good looks.

Just now, Milton’s heart skipped a few beats, making it difficult for him to control his breath.
