Chapter 57:
Candice was startled when Milton sounded slightly annoyed.
She looked at him innocently, not knowing what she had done wrong.
She looked pitiful, tears welling up in her eyes.
“Since you think I am beautiful and nice, why didn’t you love me back in all the ten years we spent together?” Candice sobbed miserably.
At this moment, Milton was sure she was dead drunk. She couldn’t even recognize him at all. He felt depressed but had no outlet to vent.
Damn it! How could she mistake him for another man?
He didn’t want to linger any longer.
However, as he was about to leave, Candice suddenly reached out and pulled him back down.
Their eyes locked, and they were so close they could feel each other’s warm breath on their cheeks.
“You never kissed me before…” Candice mumbled as she stared into his eyes. Her tears were about to fall, making her look even more pitiable.
Her voice trembled, full of grievance and sadness.
Milton felt sorry for Candice, even knowing she had mistaken him for someone else.
Without much thought, Milton bent over and kissed her. As soon as their lips touched, he felt himself trembling. Candice’s lips were warm and soft, and he seemed drunk on the lingering scent of wine.
Candice wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back.
She obviously had no experience and bit his lips at random.
The kiss was awkward.
Milton couldn’t help but widen his eyes in disbelief.
However, he felt his reasoning collapse in her presence.
She was so sweet and soft that he felt desperate to take in more of her.
He felt his mind fading, unable to control himself. He closed his eyes and deepened the kiss, showing her how it should be done. It felt as if he was transported back to when he was eighteen—the time of his first kiss…
This moment was just like that shy kiss with the girl in the cold storage.
Milton had never forgotten her. He had always treasured that memory deep in his heart.
He was a neat freak. Even when he slept with that strange woman in the hotel, he had never once kissed her.
But now, he felt an overwhelming urge to keep kissing Candice, deeper and deeper.
He couldn’t stop himself.
He didn’t let go until she stopped moving in his arms.
It turned out she had fallen asleep.
Two streaks of tears had fallen down her cheeks. No wonder he tasted something salty.

Milton laid Candice down gently on the sofa.
The dim yellow light shone softly on her beautiful face. She looked so fragile, the tear streaks illuminated on her cheeks.
Milton felt a sudden wave of regret and sadness.
Was he just a substitute? Who did she think he was? She had such wonderful qualities. Who was the man that broke her heart? How could he hurt her so deeply?
Milton reached out and wiped the tears from her eyes.
He stroked her face and gently pushed her hair behind her ear.
The next morning came.
Milton was taking a shower.
Candice was awakened by the sound of water running in the bathroom. She slowly opened her eyes, feeling a splitting headache.
She found herself lying on a large, soft bed in an unfamiliar place. The room was painted grey, giving off a cold yet luxurious vibe.
She was completely stunned.
She had no recollection of how she had gotten here the previous night.
She didn’t know where she was. All she remembered was that she got drunk and blacked out.
She hurriedly looked at her body. Besides her coat, her clothes were still intact, and she was even wrapped tightly in a blanket.
While she pondered the events of the previous night, Milton suddenly appeared from the bathroom.
Water droplets fell from his wet hair onto his sculpted chest. His handsome, chiseled face was also wet, which only enhanced his looks.
He had a white bath towel wrapped around his waist, making him look extremely sexy.
The curtains were slightly open, and the morning sun shone on his body.
He had a muscular physique, with well-defined muscles and long legs.
His body was clear and vivid in the morning light.
Candice felt deeply embarrassed at the sight of him.
Her face immediately flushed. She had never willingly slept with a man before. She didn’t know how to respond to Milton standing nearly naked in front of her.

Milton noticed Candice was awake and asked indifferently, “How do you feel?”
“Mr. Lopez, last night, did… did I do anything to you?” she asked weakly.
