Chapter 66
Chapter 66:
Clearly distinguishable were a dark red line and a lighter, less noticeable line. If one didn’t look closely, they could miss the second line. Candice didn’t take it seriously and used another pregnancy test kit.
Things didn’t turn out any differently. She discarded the test kits, returned to her office, and logged onto the internet to do some research.
The term “weak positive” was commonly used online to describe this situation. It could indicate a false positive or a very early pregnancy.
She could get clearer results by taking a blood test at the hospital. If she were truly pregnant, it would be possible to confirm it within the first week.
She just sat there staring at the monitor, feeling lost. Restless and bewildered, her mind raced with uncertainty.
Meanwhile, Milton was observing the scene from the floor-to-ceiling window.
“Achoo!” he sneezed unexpectedly.
Raul glanced at him and asked, “Is that a cold? From last night, perhaps?”
He didn’t have the courage to probe further. That morning, Milton didn’t arrive at the Royal Garden Corporation until noon.
No one knew what Milton had done with Candice the previous night.
Milton came to work with a blank expression and didn’t utter a single word. It was better if no one asked him about it.
With a grimace, Milton said, “No.”
He thought back to the events of the previous night. After Candice fell asleep, he brought her to the room, laid her on the comfortable bed, and covered her with the quilt. As he turned to leave, she grabbed his arm.
He tried to pull away, but not that night. Instead, he fell onto the bed.
She seemed to be feeling cold and instinctively moved closer to him. At first, she held his arm tightly, and then…
She slowly coiled herself in his embrace. Seeing that she was fast asleep, he resisted the urge to leave her. Finally, he gave in and lay down next to her so she could sleep in his arms.
The lighting in the room was dim. The soft glow highlighted the smoothness of her skin. His chest tightened, and he felt his body temperature rise. To calm himself, he took a few deep breaths.

He knew he couldn’t let this continue. Eventually, he decided to get up. Yet, in her sleep, she rolled over and placed her leg on his waist.
Milton held her ankle firmly.
When it came to her own comfort, she was a pro. He felt like she was tormenting him endlessly, and the heat inside him only grew.
Defeated, he stared at her. It was going to be a very long night. What was wrong with him? He had always had strong self-control; he wasn’t the type to give in to desires easily.
But she wasn’t about to stop luring him.
He made no effort to pull away, and they slept like that all night.
After a long while, she rolled over. He finally got the chance to rise.
He felt numb and stiff all over. It was a real struggle before he could move his limbs again. The night had been torture for him.
He gently tucked her in.
Then he went to the bathroom and turned on the cold water faucet. The cold water hitting his aching body was the only relief he could find.
He remembered the passionate kiss from the night before and her beautiful sleeping face.
All night, he had been tortured by his feelings, while she remained blissfully unaware.
His desire subsided as he closed his eyes.
“Achoo!”
Milton sneezed a couple more times, shaking off the remnants of last night.
Oh no! Raul was right.
Taking a cold shower first thing in the morning must have given him a cold.
Raul pursed his lips, stood up, and said, “I’ll have the doctor prescribe some medication for you.”
“Wait!” Milton interrupted abruptly.
Raul turned and asked, “What’s the matter?”
