Chapter 7:
It took the police the entire day and night to find Madilyn. Candice rushed to the police station as soon as she received the news.
As she entered the station, she heard Madilyn yelling, “It must be Candice Blake! She’s the only one who would do this! She tried to ruin my life to make Rey dislike me.”
Greyson had already arrived at the station, holding Madilyn in his arms.
“Rey, I was so scared. I thought I might never see you again,” Madilyn sobbed.
“It’s all right now. There’s nothing to fear anymore,” Greyson assured her, gently patting her back.
“We will investigate. We cannot take action against Candice Blake yet, as there is no evidence. Please, calm down,” the policeman urged patiently.
“What evidence do you need? You can run a background check on her. This isn’t the first time. Three years ago, she kidnapped me. Now, she’s done it again!” Madilyn cried pitifully, putting her acting skills to good use.
“I was almost raped… If you hadn’t arrived in time to save me… I’d be too ashamed to face Rey now…”
Though Madilyn was a beautiful woman, her disheveled hair and traces of dirt on her face made her appear fragile and pitiable.
The policeman felt sorry seeing her like this and comforted her repeatedly, “It’s all right now. Don’t cry. We’ll get to the bottom of this.”
Candice’s head ached from the scene, and she felt annoyed.
Just then, Greyson looked up and was stunned to see her.
She wore a burgundy dress and delicate makeup. She looked stunning.
He had never bothered to look closely at her before. But now, she seemed different from the Candice he knew.
She had a beautiful face, a smooth neck, and a sexy figure.
She wasn’t wearing any jewelry—and didn’t need to—her skin was radiant enough.

She looked even more stunning than Madilyn.
Madilyn felt jealous. She had never seen Candice dress up like this before. How could she be so beautiful?
The policeman noticed Candice and asked, “Are you Candice Blake? This lady claims you pestered her boyfriend and even hired someone to attack her.”
Candice smiled amusedly and replied pointedly, “I pestered her boyfriend? Sir, you must be mistaken. This man here is my husband.”
She glanced at Greyson indifferently. Since their divorce couldn’t be made public yet, they had to act like a couple in front of others. Today, she had the upper hand.
A flicker of embarrassment crossed Greyson’s face. Madilyn was dumbfounded and didn’t know how to respond.
The policeman stared at Madilyn in surprise and scolded, “So you’re not his girlfriend! What are you doing then? Since this is clearly a family matter, you should take it back home. We have more important things to handle!”
His sympathy for Madilyn vanished. It turned out she wasn’t even Greyson’s girlfriend. How could she be so shameless?
Another policeman approached sternly and said, “You should all leave. This lady must have been frightened by what happened, but she doesn’t seem hurt. Although she accused Ms. Blake of kidnapping her, there’s no evidence to prove it. We will continue our investigation and contact you when there’s progress.”
Madilyn sulked, having gone to great lengths to stage the kidnapping. How could she go home empty-handed?
She rolled up her sleeves and said crossly, “Who said I’m not hurt? Look at these bruises all over my body. She hired someone to do this to me!”
Her skin was bruised all over.
Madilyn was skilled at pretending. She glanced silently at Greyson, tears welling in her eyes as she bit her lip.
She looked so pitiful that any man would pity her. Even the two policemen frowned at the sight of the bruises.
Candice sighed.
Madilyn was really going all out to frame her.
Greyson’s temper flared, and he shot a cold glance at Candice.
All of a sudden, Candice slapped Madilyn hard across the face. Everyone was stunned by Candice’s unexpected action.
