And the other boy in the dorm turned out to be Milton.
Lambert called the waiter and requested the food be brought promptly.
The room had a peculiar vibe that couldn’t be explained. Candice readjusted her chair, stowed her phone in her bag, and set it aside.
Greyson gathered the papers and placed them in his briefcase.
Lambert served tea to everyone present. As he poured tea for Greyson, he said, “I didn’t anticipate you’d be familiar with Candy. She has potential, can do anything she sets her mind to, and has great intuition. At such a young age, she has taken on the role of Mr. Lopez’s personal attorney. Mr. Harman, you can rest assured working with her since Mr. Lopez trusts her.”
Lambert was likely trying to convince Greyson to work with her. To help her, he perhaps hoped to make her look good with a few words.
“That’s right!” Greyson flashed a sly smile and added, “I know that because she is my wife!”
Lambert was still pouring tea for Greyson.
Upon hearing Greyson’s words, he suddenly poured too much tea into the cup, causing the green liquid to spill out and stain the white tablecloth.
“The cup is full!” Candice alerted him.
“Shit!” Lambert set down the teapot. “I’m sorry, I’m truly sorry about that.”
He was freaking out right now. He grabbed a napkin and wiped the spill spontaneously. Did he hear Greyson wrong? Candy was his wife? Weren’t they supposed to be having a meeting to discuss ways to work together? Or was this a date? Or maybe an important anniversary? Had he become a nuisance?
Hearing Greyson mention that she was his wife in front of Milton, Candice felt utterly repulsed.
Greyson was blatantly lying, knowing full well it wasn’t true. She suspected his motivations went beyond the new medicine; he was trying to protect the Harman family’s reputation.
He did it on purpose.
Candice scowled and glanced unconsciously toward Milton. Thankfully, Milton did not overreact. He crossed his legs in a stately manner and sat expressionless.

Embarrassed, Lambert glanced at Greyson. “Mr. Harman, please accept my apologies. Sorry, I misunderstood; I thought you were just friends or something. Did I interrupt you? Were you—”
In truth, he had no idea what to say. Milton was already seated, and it would embarrass him to suggest leaving now.
After a pause, Greyson said apathetically, “Don’t worry about it. The table is set, so let’s enjoy ourselves now.”
“I agree with you,” Lambert said, a bit relieved. “Since you and Mr. Lopez were classmates and roommates, your relationship must be strong. As fate would have it, all of us were to run into each other today.”
Milton took a sip from the teacup placed in front of him.
Then, being himself, his words sent an icy chill through the whole room. “We shared a dorm and were classmates. We’re not pals, unfortunately!”
