The apartment was spotless. It seemed like it had just been cleaned.
Candice hurried to the bathroom and found the bathrobe.
On her way out of Raul’s apartment and back to her place, she saw Bettina standing outside her door, ringing the doorbell. Hearing the sound behind her, Bettina turned to look at Candice. At first, Bettina was surprised. Then, she looked up at the apartment number and said, “My brother told me your unit number, and I’m at the right place. Candy, what were you doing in that apartment?”
“Well, I…” At that moment, Candice carefully closed the door to Raul’s apartment. With Milton’s bathrobe in her hand, she stood awkwardly in the corridor, unsure how to explain herself.

Candice, her face darkening, raised her hand and slapped Bettina’s shoulder.
“What do you mean I’m selfish?” Candice asked sharply.
At that moment, Milton cleared his throat awkwardly. Candice had reacted so swiftly that she had practically thrown his bathrobe at his face.
He thought she must have really minded Bettina seeing him half-naked. The thought made him beam with happiness.
Still standing at the door, Bettina crossed her arms and asked, “Candy, tell me the truth. What’s really going on here? Where do you actually live — in this apartment or the one across the corridor?”
