Chapter 865
Chapter 868:
As dusk settled, Milton called once again.
He requested a driving practice session at their last location. Glancing at her watch, Candice saw that it was unlikely she’d return to the office after the practice. Determined to make the most of her time, she packed her belongings, shut down her computer, and bid farewell to the law office. Having practiced driving several times before, Candice had honed her skills and grown more confident behind the wheel. The training proceeded smoothly, lasting about an hour.
Throughout the session, Milton maintained a serious demeanor, avoiding any inappropriate behavior. Perhaps he was satisfied with their earlier encounter, or maybe he had made a promise to Candice. On their way home, Candice seized the opportunity to study the traffic rules and key points. The exam was approaching.
Reciting them aloud, she demonstrated her impressive memory and ease with memorization. These laws and regulations were just a piece of cake for a lawyer like her!
Milton drove the car, his gaze alternating between the road and Candice.
Over time, Candice had overcome her past traumas. She had left behind the shackles of post-traumatic stress disorder! Recognizing her growth, Milton felt a sense of relief wash over him.
Lifting her head from her phone, Candice proposed, “There’s a celebration tomorrow evening. Let’s attend together. You can pick me up then. What do you think?”
Candice said this with unwavering determination. She was serious about not missing the celebration. And the way she said it left no room for Milton to decline!
Surprised by her sudden enthusiasm, Milton asked, “Do you really want to go? Haven’t you always disliked such gatherings?”
“After all, this marks the first major acquisition case I’ve successfully handled for you. I’ve put in a lot of effort, and the outcome is remarkable. Why wouldn’t I attend the celebration?” Candice met his gaze directly and asked, “Don’t you want me to be there?”
Raising an eyebrow, Milton replied, “How could you even think that? The celebration is specifically arranged in your honor by the directors themselves. They’ve invited other members of the Hope Law Firm to introduce them to the attendees. Since you’re willing to go, there’s no reason for me to decline their invitation.”

A faint smile played on Candice’s face as she said, “Can you help me choose a dress for tomorrow?”
“Of course.” Milton nodded. With one hand on the steering wheel, he gently touched the back of Candice’s hand with the other. The atmosphere between them was pleasant and lively.
In the Black family’s villa,
After dinner, Candice showered and meticulously dried her hair. Then came the daunting task of selecting an outfit for the upcoming night.
She found herself standing in front of her wardrobe, and a throbbing headache overwhelmed her.
It was as if the wardrobe had transformed into a labyrinth of choices, impossible to navigate.
