Chapter 261:
“It’s me,” Milton suddenly chimed in.
“What?” Bettina was stunned for a moment before realizing what Milton had just said. “You… You’re the owner of the Vinson Golf Club?”
No way. She had just badmouthed the owner of that club.
Bettina didn’t expect it to be Milton.
She covered her mouth and then burst into nervous laughter.
Watching this scene, Candice was amused. She was surprised to find out that the Royal Garden Corporation had fingers in so many different pies. She then realized that no matter what she did, she would always run into Milton because Milton was the boss of a massive conglomerate that touched every aspect of daily life.
“It’s just our strategy to get patrons. It’s called hunger marketing. People play golf mostly to socialize.” Milton didn’t mind what Bettina said. In fact, he even explained how he promoted the golf course.
“Would you like to come and play? I’ll help you apply for a special membership, and then you can play free of charge from now on,” Milton offered.
“Oh my God! Are you kidding? Yes! Of course, I’d love that!” With her eyes lighting up, Bettina squealed with excitement and nodded incessantly.
Candice couldn’t stop her best friend anymore. As for Candice, she didn’t know how to play golf, and she really wasn’t interested in it.
In their business partnership, Bettina was the one in charge of client relations and taking cases for the firm. Golf was actually a good way to interact with clients and build rapport with them.
So Candice understood why Bettina wanted to join Milton’s golf club. She wanted to meet more people because meeting more people meant meeting more potential clients.
With no choice but to accompany Bettina, Candice sighed. She might as well be supportive since Bettina had suffered an awful encounter with an ex-boyfriend earlier that day.
Milton stood up and said, “I’ve had a drink, so I can’t drive. I’ll call the driver to pick us up. Excuse me for a moment.”
When Jarrod arrived, he pulled over in front of the restaurant.
Candice, Milton, and Bettina were waiting for him.
Milton opened the door to the back seat for Candice and Bettina. He even hovered his hand over their heads to keep them from hitting the roof of the car as they got in. Bettina went in first, then Candice followed.
Milton closed the door after making sure they were settled inside.
Bettina pinched Candice’s flank and said, “He is such a gentleman. After all, he has received top-notch education from elite schools abroad since he was a boy.”
“I think he must have been made to repeat a year in kindergarten,” Candice replied, rolling her eyes at Bettina.
Confused, Bettina asked, “What? Why?”
“He doesn’t know basic courtesy,” Candice muttered, pursing her lips. She had always thought Milton was arrogant and domineering. He did whatever he wanted regardless of anything. “Gentleman” was the last word she’d use to describe him. Since she dared to say it out loud, she wasn’t afraid of being heard.
