Chapter 142
Chapter 142:
Fortunately, there was a host for the press conference—the public relations director of the Royal Ballet Troupe. Madilyn didn’t need to do anything. When she was introduced as the new lead, she just had to stand, greet everyone with a smile, and read a prepared speech.
More and more people arrived at the venue. Soon, there were no seats available, and the doorway became crowded.
Candice arrived three minutes before ten o’clock.
The Harman family was involved in today’s press conference. Since her divorce from Greyson hadn’t been made public yet, she decided to attend to avoid media criticism.
Onstage, Greyson’s seat was empty.
After looking around, Candice didn’t find him. She checked her watch. Greyson was already late.
She stood in the last row, ready to make a quick getaway once the press conference ended.
Seeing Candice in the crowd, Madilyn couldn’t help but grin. She felt quite pleased with herself.
She had never been this successful since she was a little girl.
She immediately sent another message to Greyson to urge him, “Where are you? The press conference is about to start. Come quickly.”
She didn’t want Greyson to miss her moment.
Finally, the press conference commenced.
The public relations director of the Royal Ballet Troupe began talking about the troupe’s current financial situation, their performances over the year, new pieces rehearsed, and future prospects.
After those remarks, he prepared to deliver the big announcement. He took a deep breath.
“Congratulations to the Harman Group for becoming the largest shareholder of the Royal Ballet Troupe. Today, I am honored to introduce the newly appointed lead of our troupe. She is also one of the members of the ballet team. Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in congratulating and welcoming Miss Madilyn Reily!”
Madilyn rose from her seat and beamed at the crowd.

A dazzling white spotlight shone on her. She instantly became the center of attention, nodding to everyone who applauded. Once again, cameras began flashing.
Just then, someone anxiously yelled, “Wait, wait!”
“Wait a minute! You can’t reveal the news just yet. There’s been a sudden change in the shares of the Royal Ballet Troupe!”
At that moment, a staff member of the ballet troupe burst into the venue, clutching a golden envelope in his hand.
He sprinted toward the stage as quickly as he could.
“The Securities Exchange Commission just sent this in. Someone has been buying up shares of the Royal Ballet Troupe since yesterday. As of 10 o’clock this morning, they now hold more than 51% of the shares.”
