Chapter 521
Chapter 521:
But Candice surprised them by smiling and saying, “It’s hard to refuse such kindness. I’m indeed hungry. No need to pack anything. I’ll just have a quick bite here. I’ll be done in a few minutes.”
Candice pulled out a chair and sat down next to Milton and Sigrid.
She took a plate and began piling on various dishes.
“Thank you.”
After saying that, she started eating hurriedly, her mouth full of food.
Normally, Western dining emphasizes slow, refined tasting, but Candice devoured the Michelin-star dishes like snacks.
The romantic dining atmosphere was shattered.
Seeing how shameless Candice was, Sigrid couldn’t help but scowl.
This was supposed to be a date between her and Milton, and Candice was merely there to sign a document. Sigrid had only asked her to pack some food to humiliate her, but she hadn’t expected Candice to ruin everything by sitting down to eat with them.
Sigrid found it hateful.
She regretted stopping Candice from leaving.
But since she had made the suggestion, she had no choice but to accept it, even though she was angry.
Candice was not an ordinary person, and she was not easy to deal with. She was shameless and resourceful. Sigrid had tried to teach her a lesson twice but failed.
After only a few minutes, Candice finished her meal, wiped her mouth with a wet tissue, and stood up.
“I’m full. I’ll be leaving now. Enjoy the rest of your meal,” she said, then left the room, closing the door behind her.
Sigrid felt quite annoyed.
She tried to maintain her usual composed and gracious demeanor. “Milton, would you like to order something else?”
Candice had carelessly messed up the delicate dishes on the table, leaving them in complete disarray. The elegance of the evening was ruined, and Sigrid couldn’t bear to look at the mess.
This was a rare opportunity for her to dine with Milton. She wanted to enjoy it.
However, Milton abruptly stood up and grabbed his document. “I’m sorry, I just remembered I have something important to attend to. Take your time finishing your meal. I must hurry out. Please settle the bill when you’re done.”
With that, he left the room without a backward glance.
Sigrid was left alone, feeling frustrated and confused. How could the wealthiest man in the country just leave her with the bill like that?
Sigrid was left alone in the room after the door closed shut. Her face flushed with anger, and frustration built inside her, impossible to suppress. She wished she could flip the table and knock all the dishes off.
