Chapter 650
Chapter 650:
He proceeded to provide a detailed analysis of his opinions, emphasizing, “To begin with, you must meticulously document the entire narrative. Second, you must acknowledge your missteps. Finally, you need to vow not to repeat the same error. If you do make the same mistake, you’ll have to stay under my roof, within my line of sight. I don’t want to read such a halfhearted letter of self-reflection.”
Candice gawked at him, completely taken aback. She had gone above and beyond already, yet he was still not satisfied? He had the nerve to act so high and mighty?!
“Listen. I don’t have the luxury of time to entertain these shenanigans. I have a heap of legal paperwork to deal with. If you don’t approve, you can write it yourself.”
She flung the self-reflection letter at his infuriatingly handsome face.
“Who do you think you are? Even my own parents never demanded such things from me.” She muttered the final sentence under her breath. He shouldn’t have heard it.
Just as she was preparing to turn around and ascend the staircase, Milton reached out, yanking her back. He spun her around, pinning her securely on the couch. This was an alarmingly precarious position. She was rendered helpless, resistance futile. An urgent warning resonated in her mind.
His warm body enveloped her, his icy, slender lips hovering perilously close to her face. “What was that? I didn’t catch your words. Repeat them.”
Guilt washed over Candice. Could he have truly heard her?
“Nothing, truly nothing.” She held her breath in, too scared to exhale. Her enchanting face flushed with increasing embarrassment. “Please don’t. The guards can see us through the French window.”
“Rewrite it!” His demand was a near growl, teeth clenched. His extended fingers delicately combed through her hair before he firmly secured his grip at the nape of her neck. His facial expression teetered on the brink of fury.
“Alright, I’m on it.” Candice’s voice wavered in response. She feared he might truly lose control.
Milton released her, finally speaking, “Rest easy. Hand it to me before sunset. Make sure it’s thoughtful. A minimum of a thousand words.”

As he returned to his upright position, his attention reverted back to his paperwork.
Feeling as though she’d been granted a pardon, Candice hastily reclaimed her letter of self-reflection and dashed to the second floor’s study.
She raked her fingers through her hair in regret, stomping her foot against the floor before her desk. Damn it all! Why was she heeding his commands? Crafting a letter of self-reflection was baffling. Even more ludicrous was the fact she was required to redraft it. She felt akin to a reprimanded grade-schooler.
She slumped onto her desk, her expression crestfallen. Was she the type who feared her husband? Never before had she been scared of anyone.
It wasn’t until late afternoon that Candice finally finished her self-reflection letter.
Her appetite had almost completely disappeared. She only nibbled at her lunch before hastily discarding it.
She hoped that he wouldn’t ask her to rewrite it again. With a sigh, she snapped a picture of her thousand-word letter of self-reflection and emailed it to him. She then took the original copy downstairs to deliver it in person.
