Chapter 844
Chapter 847:
Prior to her visit to the station, she had gathered the necessary materials. The officer who had contacted her was Officer Aston, specifically assigned to Dr. Foster’s case.
From her belongings, Candice produced a thumb drive containing her home’s surveillance footage. As she handed it over to Officer Aston, she stated,
“Here is the surveillance footage from the front of my residence. It proves that I remained indoors at the time in question. This serves as my alibi and distances me from Dr. Foster’s death.”
Officer Aston, aware of Candice’s profession, accepted the thumb drive and responded,
“We’re merely fulfilling our duty. Why did you need to discuss a three-year-old autopsy report with Dr. Foster?”
Candice replied,
“My parents died in an unsolved hit-and-run three years ago. The postmortem report concluded it was an accidental death. But recent findings suggest there were hidden aspects of the accident, and I’ve been investigating them ever since. That led me to Dr. Foster, the medical examiner who handled my parents’ case. He had agreed to revisit the old files. I was waiting for his findings when he tragically passed.”
Officer Aston nodded.
“Your input is appreciated. However, since the case dates back three years, it falls outside our current jurisdiction.”
“I understand. Officer Aston, surely Dr. Foster’s death wasn’t from a heart attack? Is there another cause?” she asked cautiously.
“Dr. Foster’s autopsy report has not been finalized. Moreover, the details are confidential under regulation,” Officer Aston said impassively.
“Your testimony has been recorded. You may leave now.”

“Hold on, Officer Aston. This morning, a news report mentioned two men found dead at the Frontsea Apartment. A supposed business disagreement led to mutual homicide. The deceased were identified as Benson Fuller and Grady Lyons, co-founders of Centilength Biotech Company.”
At her words, Officer Aston shot a cold look at Candice.
“The news wouldn’t disclose their identities. Are they acquaintances of yours?”
“Indeed. My parents’ accident resulted in Benson and Grady becoming the primary beneficiaries. They bought out the Blake Group, formerly owned by my mother, at a substantial discount. I’ve been discreetly investigating their financial—”
“activities. I suspect that the deaths of Dr. Foster, Benson, and Grady may be connected to the events from three years ago. If these cases share a common link, I urge the police to treat them as a unified investigation. Additionally, the surveillance footage I provided earlier confirms my alibi during the recent murders.”
