Chapter 872
Chapter 875:
After a brief pause, warmth filled Candice’s heart, and she responded, “Of course, Erica. Goodbye.”
Erica nodded, turned on her heels, and left.
After leaving the Blake family’s villa, Erica failed to show up for her appointment. In truth, she had lied to Candice. The person who drove Erica was an experienced and loyal driver named Conley Vaughn, who had served her family for a lifetime. Conley had accompanied Erica when she married into the Lopez family, and he would never betray her. Once Erica entered the car, Conley inquired, “Mrs. Lopez, are we heading to that place today?”
“Yes,” Erica nodded.
She reached into her bag, retrieved her phone, and turned it off. She wanted no disturbances when meeting that person. The journey took approximately three and a half hours.
The location was beyond the boundaries of Ploville, situated by the seaside in Raleigh.
As the car traversed a long, tree-lined avenue, Conley skillfully made turns. Eventually, a beautiful European-style building emerged before them. The autumn scenery was particularly enchanting, with maple leaves ablaze like flames.
This was Erica’s private villa, its existence known to no one.
Once she stepped out of the car, the butler, Jacob Hilton, respectfully greeted her.
“How is he doing?” Erica immediately asked upon entering the house. She visited the villa once or twice a week.
“He’s stable, but there have been some new developments. The doctor is awaiting your arrival and will personally brief you on the latest updates,” Jacob dutifully informed her.
“New developments?” Erica felt a hint of surprise. It had been over three years, and there had been no change in his condition. Could this be a turning point?
A sudden wave of nervousness washed over her. Despite her concerns about shattered hopes, Erica couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation.

The other side of the villa faced the sea. As they entered the living room, a breathtaking view of blue skies, white clouds, and rolling waves greeted them through the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. It was a stark contrast to the verdant trees visible from the entrance.
Ascending the spiral staircase to the second floor, Erica entered the room.
The room had been arranged like a professional hospital ward, complete with a high-quality medical bed, state-of-the-art equipment, and facilities. There was a dedicated private doctor in charge, along with four experienced nurses providing round-the-clock care for the patient.
Surpassing even the finest VIP ward services in hospitals, the private doctor was Stannis Riley, and the head nurse was Marcella Cargile.
Upon seeing Erica enter, the duo nodded respectfully.
Lying on the bed was a man with a sharp jawline, finely arched eyebrows, and closed almond-shaped eyes. His hair was lustrous and impeccably groomed, with only a few wrinkles adorning his temples. Despite being in his sixties, he appeared to be younger than fifty.
