Chapter 838
Chapter 841:
“What keeps you here?” Milton questioned, a frown appearing on his face. Unable to maintain her composure any longer, Sigrid let go of her dignified facade and confronted him. “Milton, are you intentionally suppressing my talent? Does Candice’s work surpass mine?”
Milton abruptly set down his pen at her query. He lifted his head, his eyes narrowing into piercing daggers. “Never compare yourself with Candice.”
Sigrid froze at his words. A spark of joy ignited in her heart; she believed Milton meant she was leagues beyond comparison with Candice. She was completely unprepared for the ruthless reality Milton would drop next.
“You’re considerably beneath her.”
At first, Sigrid thought she had misunderstood. But as the realization dawned, she felt as if someone had dealt her a severe blow to the head. Her lips quivered as she questioned, “I’m inferior to her? How can that be?”
Milton replied nonchalantly, “Her work is meticulous, attentive, and flawless. Everything about her job satisfies me.”
“I suspect it’s her physical appeal you’re really satisfied with!” Sigrid retorted, her anger evident. “Milton, when it comes to family background, educational background, social status, qualifications, wealth, and accomplishments, which aspect can she possibly compare with me? The Olson and Lopez families are a perfect alliance. Our elders have been rooting for our union. Why are you playing dumb? Giving up my career in the arts to venture into design, relocating to Ploville, taking up the role of design director at the Royal Garden Corporation, surely you know why I made all these sacrifices! All because of you, I’ve kept a low profile, and I’ve poured my heart and soul, my creative flair, and my ideas into my designs. Milton, we’ve known each other for years from our time abroad. I’ve told you before, you are the one I hold dear in my heart.”
Sigrid blurted out, “You are momentarily enchanted by Candice. I’m a generous and noble person, so I won’t create trouble with her. Men often indulge themselves and act foolishly before marriage. I understand and have turned a blind eye. Haven’t I done enough? Am I not patient enough? How many women can be as understanding as me?”

After a pause, she continued, “The elders of our families have all agreed to our marriage. It’s a done deal. I’m the only one who’s worthy of you, and only my family can provide the greatest assistance to the Royal Garden Corporation. Everyone knows that this is the best choice. It maximizes both your happiness and profit. I hope you can resolve your relationship with Candice before we get married. Send her away. I don’t want to see her after we’re married.”
After hearing the whole story, Milton surprisingly remained calm. He simply asked, “Our families are planning to merge through marriage? Is that common knowledge?”
“Of course. You can ask any employee at the Royal Garden Corporation and see if they all think the same. Ever since your mother introduced me to the company, it has been clear to everyone that our marriage is inevitable.” Sigrid’s face reddened, her heart pounding fast.
