Chapter 708
Chapter 708:
Brooks, his dedicated assistant, was also present in Greyson’s office, sharing the couch as they pored over the extensive paperwork spread across the coffee table, creating quite a sight. Several drained coffee cups littered the nearby wastebasket, evidence of Brooks’ successive sleepless nights.
Greyson’s office boasted a discreetly installed large Crystal TV screen, currently switched on. The screen relayed rolling news bulletins and live interviews. Over the past few days, Greyson had developed a habit of switching on the television and diligently keeping up with the latest news updates.
After some time, a news update about the acquisition of Warren Building Materials began airing. By now, Royal Garden Corporation had completed the paperwork with Warren Building Materials, managing to pull the company back from the brink of insolvency and acquiring full ownership in the process.
Brooks took in the TV report. With a touch of envy in his voice, he said, “They’re not saving Warren Building Materials from bankruptcy. It’s clear exploitation of their financial crisis. Snapping up shares at rock-bottom prices, Royal Garden Corporation stands to reap massive profits from this move.”
He stole a quick glance at Greyson. Greyson seemed engrossed in his paperwork, but his focus had started to wander.
“She certainly knows how to play her hand,” Greyson responded nonchalantly.
Brooks pouted. If Greyson had remained married to Candice, she could assist him with his work now. Harman Group had been consistently merging with other firms. If all transactions were executed as smoothly as the acquisition of Warren Building Materials, just imagine the fortune Greyson could accumulate.
He snuck another peek at Greyson. Clearly, Greyson held an interest in these updates, as he had made it a habit to tune in daily. Brooks earnestly wished Greyson would reconcile with Candice, though it seemed like an uphill battle.
After a brief hesitation, he posed his question. “Mr. Harman, have you considered reaching out to Candice? We have quite a few M&A cases lined up. Why not let her take the lead? She wouldn’t be alone. Doesn’t she have a team? She wouldn’t refuse, would she? I’ve known her for a while, and she’s quite approachable…”

In the midst of his paperwork, Greyson looked up, shooting a piercing gaze at Brooks. “Zip it and focus on your work.”
After finishing his statement, he lowered his head and resumed his focus on reviewing the documents. His concentration, however, was no longer on the task at hand. Soon, he abruptly tossed his pen on the desk, rose from his chair, and walked towards the balcony adjoining his office to get some air.
Downstairs, Harmony Hospital buzzed with a bustling crowd, resembling a colossal money-making machine that generated substantial profits for him. The Harman Group was indeed a more thriving entity than the hospital.
Yet, in possession of all this, he felt empty.
What worth was all this without her by his side?
He had witnessed her stunning victory at the trial, assuming that was the end, but was caught unawares by the strategic acquisition that followed. No wonder she had disappeared for a while. It turned out that she had done an excellent job during that period.
