“Remember, Greyson, I’m an attorney. There are two ways to end a marriage: either we reach an agreement, or I file for divorce in court. The process has been simplified nowadays. In a few months, I can have a divorce decree. But frankly, I’d rather not be cruel.”
She paused before continuing, “I appreciate you digging deeper into the Blake Group’s bankruptcy and your help with my professional matters. We have known each other for many years. Our breakup should be amicable since we are not meant to be together. Honestly, I doubt you really tore up the divorce decrees. Let me know as soon as you decide and are ready to give me one.”
Candice stormed out of the room after speaking.
Greyson stayed behind and shouted after her, “You’ll regret this! I know you’ll be begging me soon; just wait!” But Candice didn’t look back.
Alone in the room, Greyson felt a mix of detachment and rage. He alternated between clenching his fists and trembling.
Suddenly, he grabbed the gift box he had planned for Candice and crushed it on the floor.
Still angry, he stomped on it repeatedly until it was completely destroyed, then threw it into the trash.
