Chapter 421
Chapter 421:
Milton was at a loss.
His mother’s account didn’t convince him, and he even wondered if her sudden dizziness had caused her to accidentally push Candice down the stairs without realizing it.
But looking at his mother, he dared not confront her directly.
On one side was his respected mother, and on the other, his lover.
Caught between two conflicting loyalties, he remained torn, unsure of what to do.
Meanwhile, in Sunrise Apartment, Bettina awoke with a pounding headache after last night’s heavy drinking. She had left the Gold Well Hotel alone and ended up at a bar, where she had too much to drink.
Unable to face going home, she stumbled over to Sunrise Apartment, hoping to stay at Candice’s place.
However, Candice wasn’t home yet. She tried to call Candice several times, but her phone was turned off.
The last thing Bettina remembered was waiting at Candice’s door, too drunk to move. What happened next was a blur.
Opening her eyes, Bettina found herself lying on a soft mattress with a lightweight pillow, incredibly comfortable. She assumed she had somehow made it into Candice’s apartment and slept on the bed.
“Candy, when did you get back? What happened at the banquet last night?” Bettina rubbed her eyes in a daze and felt a presence beside her. Naturally, she assumed it was Candice. Without thinking, she carelessly threw a leg over the person next to her.
But something didn’t feel right. The person’s skin was rougher and more muscular than Candice’s.
With her eyes closed, Bettina fumbled, trying to figure out why the person had a muscular chest.
“Ah!” Suddenly, Bettina realized her mistake and let out a scream. This completely woke her up.

As soon as her eyes landed on the person beside her, she let out a blood-curdling scream. Without hesitation, she lifted her foot and sent him flying off the bed with a powerful kick. “Raul, what the hell! Why are you here? Why are you sleeping on my bed?”
Raul hit the floor hard, but the plush carpeting cushioned his fall. Otherwise, his back would have been hurt. What a cruel woman! Her kick was so powerful.
He struggled to clear the haze in his mind caused by the previous night’s alcohol.
He quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, Miss Reeves. I drank too much last night. I’m leaving now.”
As he stood up and glanced around the room, he realized that he was, in fact, in his apartment.
“Wait a minute. This is my room, not yours! Why the hell are you sleeping in my bed?” Raul rubbed his temples, trying to piece together the events of the previous evening.
Looking at Bettina lying on his bed, he finally remembered what had happened.
