Chapter 406

Chapter 406:
As Greyson stepped out of the police station, rain poured down in sheets. The wind howled and thunder rumbled, creating an ominous atmosphere. It was destined to be an unusual night.
He felt a lingering sense that everything was far from resolved.
Trying to ease his emotions, he dialed Candice’s number, hoping to speak with her since he had anticipated some free time that evening.
But her phone was off. He had no information about her address because she never disclosed it to him.
This only deepened his despair and distress.
As he headed toward his car, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He hastily retrieved it and saw an incoming call from the emergency center at Harmony Hospital.
He wondered why the emergency center would call him when trained medical professionals were on duty, and he almost ignored it.
After disconnecting the first call, the emergency center called again.
Realizing it might be urgent, he impatiently answered. A frantic voice spoke from the other end.
“Mr. Harman, I’m from the emergency center. A patient was just brought in; she had a miscarriage after falling down the stairs. I checked her records in our system, and she appears to be—”
“Who?” Greyson interrupted sharply.
“Her name is Candice Blake,” the caller continued.
The moment Greyson heard Candice’s name, he abruptly ended the call.
What?! Candice had a miscarriage? After Madilyn and Rachel were taken away by the police?
This couldn’t be true!
He bolted toward his car, quickly started the engine, and sped out of the parking lot, heading straight for Harmony Hospital.

Milton stood outside the resuscitation room of Harmony Hospital, anxiously waiting for any news about Candice.
The operation had been brief, and as soon as the indicator light outside the resuscitation room turned off, he rushed to the door.
The doctor, Dariel McCoy, emerged from the room.
“Doctor, how is she?” Milton asked hastily.
Dariel removed his mask and replied, “Mr. Lopez, the operation was a success. Your decision was the right one. The patient was on the brink of a massive hemorrhage due to a ruptured uterus. If you had chosen to keep the baby, it could have led to more severe consequences. Although the baby is gone, we managed to save her uterus. She will be able to have children after she recovers.”
Dariel paused before adding, “However, it’s best to wait at least six months before trying for another baby, to allow full recovery. She had a surgical abortion, and the wall of her uterus is now thin. Another abortion could cause infertility.”
He continued, “She will need to be hospitalized for a week and remain on bed rest for another week. Plenty of rest is essential for her full recovery.”
