Milton didn’t deny it. “Those hooligans came after me, so I had to teach them a lesson.”
Candice wanted to make sure they were talking about the same incident, but she didn’t want him to find out she was the woman. So she asked, “So, did the woman thank you afterward? I’m just curious. How did she show her appreciation? Did she ask for your number? Or maybe invite you out to dinner?”
Milton took a step closer to her and asked, “Why are you so interested?”
He lifted her chin with his hand and teased, “Are you jealous that I saved another damsel in distress?” If that was the case, Milton would be thrilled.
