Chapter 62

Chapter 62:
Madilyn’s necklace fell to the floor, and Bettina seized the opportunity to stomp on it hard.
Madilyn was furious, and her friends were stunned.
However, they quickly regained their senses and began tugging at Bettina’s hair.
Bettina kicked Madilyn hard.
She was ruthless and knew the law well—she knew exactly where to kick without leaving evidence. Madilyn was kicked several times in quick succession.
Suddenly, one of Madilyn’s friends charged at Candice, but Candice dodged nimbly, causing the friend to fall to the floor.
Meanwhile, Bettina and Madilyn were pulling each other’s hair, and Bettina was kicking another of Madilyn’s friends away.
Noticing Candice standing frozen, Bettina yelled, “Beat her up. What are you waiting for?”
Candice intended to fight back, but she had the emerald bracelet on her wrist.
Worried that if the bracelet broke, she wouldn’t be able to repay Milton, she hurriedly scanned the surroundings for something to use instead.
Spotting a water bottle nearby, she opened it and poured the water over Madilyn’s head.
Madilyn shrieked and released Bettina—her makeup must have been ruined, and she had to perform on stage soon!
Meanwhile, Bettina also let go of Madilyn.
Just as Candice had emptied half the bottle, Greyson appeared out of nowhere and gripped her wrist.
“Candice, that’s enough,” he said sternly.
“Enough?” Candice sneered when she saw Greyson. “It’s far from enough, in my humble opinion,” she scoffed, shaking her wrist free.
With her hand freed, Candice tore open Madilyn’s dress, revealing her undergarments.
Before Madilyn could react, her dress was already ripped apart.
She screamed, covering her chest, and ran to hide behind Greyson.
She could no longer perform on stage. At first, she might have taken some time to fix her makeup, but now, with her clothes torn, she had nothing to change into.
Greyson grew solemn and quickly took off his suit jacket, wrapping it around Madilyn to shield her from everyone’s eyes.
Candice was annoyed by how protective he was of Madilyn.
Even Bettina seemed irritated by the sight.
Candice guessed that Greyson must have given Madilyn a ride here.
Madilyn shrank beside Greyson, crying, “They ganged up on me, Rey! I can’t go on stage anymore…”
She wiped her tears and pointed at the broken necklace on the floor, accusing, “They even broke the necklace you gave me. That was my favorite gift from you.”
Bettina snorted, “What are you talking about? I’ve paid you more than it’s worth. It’s just a cheap necklace priced at a few hundred thousand.”
Madilyn trembled with anger and retorted, “I’ll sue you for beating me up.”
Candice laughed as if hearing a joke. “Go ahead. You can have your ‘wounds’ examined and sue us. We’ll be waiting.”
She then pointed at the corners of the room. “There are surveillance cameras here. It’s clear who started the fight.”
Madilyn’s face froze. She and her friends were indeed the aggressors.
“Let’s go! We have a client to meet,” Bettina said, turning and leaving with Candice.
Candice glanced at Greyson.
He had been strangely silent.
She didn’t know what he was thinking.
Still, he had protected Madilyn, and that made her…
She felt uncomfortable.
Without another word, she turned and followed Bettina.
“It’s not worth getting angry over them,” she said.
