Raul had been right; Milton needed to find a solution or uncover the truth before talking to Candice. Otherwise, his efforts would be in vain.
Milton stood frozen, hands clenched by his sides. He released them before clenching them once more.
In the end, he turned and left, vanishing down the corridor in a flash.
Raul rushed after him, calling out, “Milton, wait for me.”
Greyson sat in his office, poring over documents well into the night. The only sound was the scratching of his pen against the paper. Suddenly, his phone rang, abruptly breaking the silence. It was Letitia, calling from the nurses’ workstation on the VIP floor.
“Mr. Harman, Candice is gone,” she reported urgently.
“What do you mean?”
Letitia explained, “Earlier this afternoon, some policemen came to the VIP ward and took her statements, as I’ve previously reported. They questioned her for about two hours and then left. It was almost dark by the time they finished. Dinner had been delivered, so we didn’t notice whether Candice was in the room or not. It wasn’t until just now, when I went in to change her dressing, that I found another woman in the room. Candice is gone!”
Letitia’s voice trembled with anxiety. “What should we do, Mr. Harman? Candice hasn’t fully recovered yet. If she leaves the hospital without proper treatment, there could be serious consequences in the future!”
Greyson sprang to his feet. “I’ll be right there,” he said firmly, hanging up the phone.
Greyson quickly changed out of his white coat and threw it onto the sofa before rushing out to the VIP ward. When he arrived, he found Bettina waiting for him.
“Bettina! What are you doing here? Where’s Candice?” Greyson demanded, his tone urgent. “She needs to be hospitalized for observation. Follow-up treatment is crucial!”
Bettina sat cross-legged on the sofa and regarded Greyson with a cold expression.

“Mr. Harman, there’s more than one hospital in Ploville, not to mention good doctors. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her.” Candice wanted to leave Harmony Hospital to recuperate in peace. Bettina had already made all the necessary arrangements. When the police left earlier, Candice had taken the opportunity to change into casual clothing and follow them out, unnoticed by the nurses at the station. Looking at her watch, Bettina figured that Candice had arrived safely at the resort she had booked, where a private doctor was already waiting for her.

“Bettina! How dare you?” Greyson bellowed as he pointed a finger at her.
“Relax. Candice is in good hands. The hospital is providing standard treatment, and I’ve arranged for a thorough check-up for her.”
Greyson kicked the sofa in anger, demanding, “Bring her back right now!”
Bettina sneered, “Stop pretending, Greyson. Candice is gone, and you two are practically strangers. You have nothing to do with each other.”
Greyson closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I know I was at fault in the past,” he admitted.
