“Well, it’s settled then. You were the one who suggested expansion, so it’s your responsibility to find us a suitable place,” Bettina said, sitting back with a serious expression.
Candice was stunned.
“What do you think, Mona? Do you have any objections?” Bettina feigned interest in Mona’s opinion.
Mona shook her head. “I’m thrilled with the location. The senior court is my go-to for frequent appeal cases. This spot is perfect for me.”
The rest of the group nodded in agreement.
Bettina placed a hand on Candice’s shoulder with a sly grin. “See? Everyone is on board. Are you going to be the one to object?”
Candice didn’t know what to say. How could she object when everyone else was happy? But the thought of seeing Milton every day and being unable to avoid him made her feel miserable.
Candice arrived at the psychological counseling center at two o’clock, just after finishing the meeting with her partners.

Designed with patient comfort in mind, it featured simple and refreshing decor that created a peaceful atmosphere. Each consultation room offered a breathtaking view of the mountain scenery, providing both enjoyment and healing.
Wendell was a renowned psychiatrist in Ploville, owning over a dozen specialized consultation rooms at the center, supported by a team of more than ten assistants. He had personally overseen Candice’s treatment for over two years.
When he saw her knock and enter, he greeted her warmly and gestured for her to take a seat.
“Dr. Haynes, I only have two and a half hours today. Is that enough time for our session?” Candice asked politely, bowing slightly as a sign of respect.
Candice held Wendell in high regard and was deeply grateful for his help. When she first sought treatment, her mental state was in disarray—she struggled to sleep at night, experienced frequent mood swings, and felt detached from reality. Even minor disturbances, like a speeding car passing by, would trigger intense stress reactions. She had no choice but to seek psychiatric assistance.
Under Wendell’s psychological guidance and medication, Candice gradually regained her mental wellbeing and was able to function normally.
