It finally ended around four o’clock in the morning. Candice was exhausted, barely able to move. She lay on the edge of the bed, covered by a thin blanket.
The man she was with was too energetic. Last time he had been gentle while she was recovering, but tonight he was rough. She felt like she was about to collapse. Her body was blissfully relaxed, but her heart felt empty. She choked on her sobs but couldn’t make a sound. She clutched the pillow tightly, her fingertips digging into her palm.
