Chapter 564
Chapter 564:
Milton felt a surge of anger rush to his forehead, and his temples throbbed intensely.
For a moment, he seemed to lose control. Narrowing his eyes, he raised his fist and swung it directly at Greyson. Greyson evaded the punch while grabbing Milton’s wrist with one hand and pulling him back.
Milton instinctively fought back.
In an instant, the two of them began wrestling until they firmly gripped each other’s shoulders and arms. Greyson coldly uttered, “Let go of me. I don’t want to fight in her house.”
“First, release me.” As Milton regained his composure, he also realized they shouldn’t have fought in Candice’s room. The commotion would disturb Candice’s rest. Greyson gave Milton a stern look. “You started it. Let me go first.”
Milton glanced at Candice, who was still peacefully asleep. Her chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm. Suddenly, her brow furrowed and she rolled over. Milton was taken aback. He thought she had woken up, so he unconsciously loosened his grip.
He stumbled back two steps from the counterforce before regaining his balance. Rushing to the bedside, he discovered that she was still asleep. She had simply changed positions. Her long eyelashes fluttered gently, casting a fan-shaped shadow on her flawless face, moving with each breath.
Milton breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, she hadn’t been disturbed.
Observing Candice sleeping, Greyson realized it might not be feasible to take her away that night. Milton wouldn’t allow it.
“I’ll arrange for a micro ECG monitor to be brought here.” Greyson finally conceded. “She needs to be monitored overnight.”
Milton didn’t object. He wouldn’t object to anything that was in Candice’s best interest.
Greyson exited the room and contacted the staff at Harmony Hospital.

Approximately thirty minutes later, someone from the hospital arrived with the ECG monitor.
Greyson affixed the small device to the headboard of the bed.
Milton stood aside and watched as Greyson attached the monitor’s wires to Candice’s wrists, fingers, and chest.
As the ECG monitor’s screen lit up, it displayed Candice’s clear heartbeat, blood pressure, and blood vitality index. The sound of her heartbeat echoed regularly in the empty, quiet room.
Greyson stood upright, appearing relieved.
For now, at least, everything seemed normal with Candice.
Milton gently held Candice’s hand, which lay exposed outside the covers. Her fingers were slightly cold but gradually warmed in his grasp.
Under the effect of the tranquilizer, Candice slept soundly.
The medicine made her feel a little groggy. As she slowly opened her eyes, she noticed the curtains were closed, and only a faint light shone through. She couldn’t make out her surroundings at first, so she reached over to turn on the bedside lamp.
