Chapter 750
Chapter 750:
Bewildered but obliging, Raul agreed, “Sure, stay put here.”
With those words, he stole a glance at Greyson, whose appearance was far from pleasant, before heading off to procure breakfast.
Bettina ushered Greyson away into a corner, sealing the emergency room door behind her, leaving Candice and Milton to their solitude. Wearing an expression of suppressed anger, Greyson remained silent.
Bettina gently massaged her forehead, feeling a headache. They had shared a history that spanned decades. She attempted to reason with Greyson. “I get it. It’s hard to see such a scene. But you must accept that your story with Candice has come to an end. I don’t want you troubling her any further.”
“It hasn’t ended. It can’t end,” Greyson retorted, veins on his forehead standing out like embossed lines on a map.
Abruptly, he pushed Bettina away and began to stride towards the emergency room.
Quickly, Bettina reached out and tugged him back. She demanded, “Why do you insist on this? You’re the one who repeatedly pushed Candice away. Recall all the times I mediated between you two. Have you forgotten all my efforts?”
“I remember. I messed up; it’s all on me.” Greyson felt the weight of remorse for blindly trusting Madilyn, being duped by her, and not valuing Candice enough.
He sank down onto a nearby bench, hands covering his face, a picture of dejection and frailty.
“Betty, I’m filled with regret. I truly regret… Betty, given our long acquaintance, please help me…”
His voice dropped to a whisper, a tremor creeping in towards the end. Head bowed, he hid his face in his hands, masking his emotions. His trembling shoulders, however, gave away his inner turmoil.
Bettina was taken aback. For someone as stoic and unfeeling as Greyson, this was unexpected. Had he finally shattered? Was he weeping?
She could scarcely believe her eyes. Seeing Greyson this vulnerable was a sight she had never imagined. How desperate was he?

A fleeting sense of compassion flickered in her heart. After all, they had been classmates for numerous years.
“Listen, Greyson, it’s time to let go, alright? Release her, and liberate yourself too.” With a heavy sigh, Bettina said softly, “If we didn’t have such a long history together, I wouldn’t have spoken to you in that manner. Let us put the past behind us and move forward. Today, your career sparkles, and your fame in Ploville is undisputed. Anything you desire, you can obtain. There’s an endless line of eager debutantes longing for your hand. Let it go.” Her hand found its way to his shoulder, an attempt to soothe him.
Abruptly, Greyson rose to his feet, his eyes devoid of light.
His countenance betrayed no change. Not a single tear track marred his face. It was as though he had been untouched by any emotion. His frosty aura was intimidating.
Bettina found herself taken aback. The man before her instilled a sense of fear in her.
“Greyson… you…”
