She wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. Sometimes she frowned, sometimes she massaged her forehead, lost in thought, and sometimes she nibbled on the pen’s cap.
Every move she made enticed Greyson like never before.
He felt that Candice had grown so much since they ended things.
It was nearly half past twelve when Candice finished her work.
She took off her glasses and turned off her computer.
Greyson was still sitting in her office, waiting for her, which surprised her a little.
Seeing her finish, Greyson stood and asked, “Ready to go to lunch?”
Candice thought avoiding Greyson wouldn’t solve anything, so with a slight frown, she agreed. “Okay. But let’s keep it brief. I have a hearing this afternoon, and I need to prepare.”
Greyson didn’t object.
They left the Hope Law Firm together and went to the café across the street, which also served food.
Candice chose the most secluded booth and sat down.
Greyson took the seat opposite her.
Then, the waitress came over and greeted them. “Hello. Are you ready to order? What can I get you?”
Without looking at the menu, Candice ordered directly, “A cup of mocha coffee, please, and two set meals—steak and spaghetti.”
“All right. Coming right up.” The waitress stole glances at Greyson from time to time. Handsome gentlemen like him rarely wandered into the café. He said nothing, but he was undeniably striking.
After the waitress left, Greyson said to Candice, “I didn’t know they came to your office.”
Candice hadn’t ordered coffee for him—only a mocha for herself. She had never done that before. Greyson thought maybe she was still angry about what happened the other night.

“There’s nothing you can do about it now. It’s over. And it’s not like you can control their actions. It was their choice to march into my workplace and cause trouble. But next time they come uninvited, I’ll have security toss them out immediately,” Candice replied, expression neutral as she sipped the lemonade on the table and looked out the window.
“I moved into my own apartment and tightened the family purse strings, so…” Greyson began.
But before he could finish, Candice interrupted, “I’m really not interested in your family’s problems. What do the Harman family’s affairs have to do with me?”
Greyson’s face darkened as he retorted, “How can you say that? The Harman family should be managed by someone capable.”
Starting to lose her patience, Candice snapped, “What do you want to say to me, Greyson?”
