Chapter 322
Chapter 322:
Her eyelids twitched, and her mind went blank.
So much had happened recently that she had almost forgotten about her pregnancy.
If she was pregnant, why was there blood? Had she overexerted herself and hurt the baby?
Panicking, Candice quickly searched the house for her medical records. After finding them, she hurriedly made an appointment through East Hospital’s online registration system.
She threw on some clothes, ate a light breakfast, and rushed out.
When she arrived at the lobby, Jarrod was already waiting for her.
Since Milton had sent Jarrod to be Candice’s chauffeur, he arrived at Sunrise Apartment’s lobby every morning at 7:30 to drive her around.
As Candice stepped off the elevator, Jarrod approached respectfully. “Miss Blake, where will you be going today?”
Candice waved him off firmly. “Don’t follow me. I have personal matters to attend to. I’ll take a taxi.”
With that, she hurried to the roadside and hailed a taxi. Since Sunrise Apartment was in the heart of downtown, taxis were readily available.
Before she got in, Jarrod quickly handed her an umbrella. “It’s going to rain. Please take this.”
“Thank you,” Candice said, accepting it.
“East Hospital, please,” she told the driver after closing the door.
“Okay,” the driver nodded and started the roughly forty-minute drive to the hospital.
The sky grew darker and heavier, thick clouds pressing down. Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed intermittently, casting a terrifying atmosphere.
“Damn, I thought it was evening when I got out of bed. It’s really rare to see thunderstorms so early in the morning,” the driver complained as he turned on the headlights and switched to low beam.

“Yeah,” Candice answered absentmindedly, gently holding her lower abdomen.
She had never felt so flustered before.
Although the baby was unplanned, she truly wanted to have it.
She didn’t want anything to happen to the baby.
All she wanted was to have a family of her own.
Candice had never mentioned her pregnancy to Milton. She still felt a chill in her heart whenever she remembered the harsh words he spoke in court.
“Don’t be too greedy, and don’t come to me threatening me with a baby. If you’re pregnant, you will have an abortion, no matter what it costs me. Even if you insist on giving birth, it will never be my heir.”
Though she assumed Milton didn’t realize she was the woman from that night when he said those words, Candice still felt uneasy that he could say something so cruel.
