She almost fell into his arms trying to reach for it.
“You said you don’t like me anymore, yet you want to be in my arms. Are you really expecting me to believe that?” Greyson teased her.
“So you were just pretending when you rejected my advances? I have to admit, you’re really damn good at it.”
Not expecting Greyson to say these words, Candice felt humiliated.
The confident look on his face drove her almost insane.
No, it wasn’t like that at all.
For reasons she couldn’t understand, she had turned down his kiss.
Why she resisted his attempts to kiss her also baffled her. Yet, she wasn’t as outraged as she had been when Milton repeatedly kissed her. Being kissed wasn’t that big of a deal. Was it because she used to have feelings for Greyson? And now, suddenly, she hated him with a passion?
To some extent, that wasn’t the case.
She just couldn’t put her finger on it!
“Shut up! I’ll say it again. I don’t like you anymore.” There was anger in Candice’s eyes.
“I have trouble believing that emotions that have been there for the last decade will suddenly vanish.” Greyson’s words provoked a smirk from him. “I must say, you’re getting smarter with your little tricks, and they’re working perfectly on me. I’m starting to take some serious interest in you.”
“The diary makes your heartfelt affection for me quite plain.
You wrote, ‘I like it very much when he is reading near the window, and the sun is shining on him. I could gaze at him forever, as long as he has his back to me. But if he turns around and sees my red face, I could be in trouble…’” He even recited a part of her diary.
He remembered things well.
There weren’t many references to him in the diary, but he recalled each one.

“Enough! Stop that!” Candice huffed, feeling humiliated to the core.
She felt like a slight had been made against her.
Because of the intense embarrassment she felt, her whole body shook, and her ears and cheeks flushed.
Never before had she felt so mortified and enraged in his presence as she did just now.
She had been doubted, hated, had her marriage end, and now, she was being humiliated by this guy!
The longer she stayed in the car, the more she wanted to get out. But she couldn’t open the door and could only pound on the doorknob in frustration. Greyson knew he had crossed a line.
His expression was stern as he stroked her injured wrist and said, “I can help you regain control of the Blake Group.”
Candice was shocked at first and couldn’t understand what he meant.
