Chapter 913
Chapter 917:
She hurriedly opened the door and hopped into the car, and then Jarrod drove her to the courthouse.
Once settled, Candice pondered over her audacious actions in the morning, her face flushing instantly. She must have lost her mind! Normally she was the one being tormented by Milton. How could she dare to provoke him?
Yet the engagement that Milton suggested also warmed her heart. Even though he was domineering, he still respected her when it came to critical matters. However, the idea of getting engaged by Wednesday was definitely rushed. It was unexpected that Milton was so eager and impatient.
Candice had assumed she would handle the entire engagement, as Milton had tasked her to prepare for it. Luckily, it turned out he had designated someone to oversee it. Candice only needed to assist, which was a relief. She was no expert at organizing such events.
Candice exhaled a deep breath of relief, extracting the milk and sandwiches from the bag and starting to nibble leisurely. She glanced over the court documents for later, quickly reviewing them. At that moment, Jarrod turned to her and said, “Miss Blake, Mr. Lopez instructed me last night to drop off your car at the venue after your driving test this afternoon. You’ll be driving it back on your own. Of course, for your first time, I’ll trail behind you in another car.”
Midway through her sandwich, Candice froze.
Milton had meticulously thought this through. Candice would certainly need some adjustment time if suddenly asked to drive alone. Over the weekend, she had another round of driving practice, which felt good. Candice cleared her throat, stating, “I feel it’s a bit flashy to drive such a conspicuous sports car around town.”
Candice didn’t fancy parading a Lamborghini through the city streets, especially as a novice driver.
Unexpectedly, Jarrod replied, “No worries, Miss Blake. Mr. Lopez purchased a new car for you to practice with first. A Bentley limited edition sedan, more fitting for a lady.”
Candice was at a loss for words.

Milton had gotten her a new Bentley to practice driving. He was indeed wealthy and extravagant.
After finishing her breakfast in the car, Candice dabbed her lips with a napkin. Suddenly, an inquiry sprang to mind, and she posed her question.
“Can you tell me about designer Catherine? The name doesn’t ring a bell.”
“Catherine’s the fresh face we’ve taken on as design director,” Jarrod offered an explanation. “She just stepped into the role.”
“Isn’t that what Sigrid was supposed to be?” Candice showed her bewilderment. How was it possible for the company to hire two individuals for the same role?
“Miss Olson’s been let go by Mr. Lopez. Weren’t you aware?” Jarrod replied. “Furthermore, as a result of Miss Olson’s actions, the entire secretaries’ station has been dismissed.”
On hearing this, Candice was left utterly dumbfounded.
After a considerable pause, she managed to voice out, “What connection does Sigrid have with the secretaries’ station termination?” It made sense that Sigrid was let go due to her actions not sitting well with Milton. But what happened to the secretaries’ station? More than a handful of employees were fired at once. What could be the magnitude of their blunder?
