Chapter 304
Chapter 304:
Despite his awkward position, he maintained a graceful posture in slumber. His long eyelashes trembled slightly, forming a perfect arc on his handsome face.
Candice took a deep breath, looked away, then returned to her seat to continue writing her defense.
She didn’t know how long she had been working. By three or four in the morning, her eyelids were heavy.
Despite exhaustion, she persisted, completed her defense letter, and submitted it.
She was so tired that she fell asleep at her desk, surrounded by piles of documents, before making it to her bedroom.
The next morning, Milton woke at seven o’clock and suddenly realized he had slept in Candice’s study.
He looked up and saw Candice asleep at her work desk. Noticing he was covered by a blanket, he realized Candice had done it.
Milton felt a warmth and gratitude in his heart.
He walked over to Candice and accidentally brushed the mouse, lighting up the computer screen, which displayed the confirmation of her submission.
He was impressed by her dedication and work ethic. It was no wonder she had become a top-notch lawyer in just three years. He cast her an admiring look.
Despite lacking her parents’ support, she had achieved far more than most people.
He gently picked Candice up. This time, she didn’t stir and remained in deep slumber.
Milton gently carried Candice to the bed, smoothing her hair before tucking her in.
He sat on the edge of the bed, his gaze fixed on Candice’s red lips as he became lost in thought. Unable to resist, he reached out to stroke her lips softly with his fingers, reliving the warmth of the secret kiss they shared the night before.
Gradually, his body tightened, and his breathing deepened.
It wasn’t hard to sleep beside her, but winning her heart was another story.

Taking a few deep breaths to control the burning desire within him, Milton stood up and quietly left the room.
Candice slept soundly.
After finishing her work, she felt relaxed and, for the first time in a while, managed to sleep in until noon.
When she woke up and stretched, it suddenly dawned on her that she was lying in her bed. But she distinctly remembered being in the study last night, working through the hours.
Milton! He was in the study with her last night!
Candice jerked upright, the quilt slipping off her body.
She quickly got up and rushed to the study, only to find the room empty. A thin blanket was neatly folded on the armchair.
She grabbed her phone from the desk and checked her messages.
As expected, there was a message from Milton:
“I left early to deal with something in the group. I’ve prepared lunch on the table. Remember to eat before you leave.”
