Chapter 585
Chapter 585:
Jarrod was taken aback but didn’t ask any further questions. He simply nodded and started the car.
After driving for a while, Candice had a change of heart. “Go to Royal Garden Corporation first, and then take me to the airport,” she instructed.
“Understood,” Jarrod replied, turning the car around.
Candice wanted to thank Milton for helping her see Belinda so quickly. She thought it would be inappropriate to leave without expressing her gratitude in person.
As they drove, the sun beamed down on the car, and the scenery outside quickly passed by.
When they arrived at the Royal Garden Corporation building, Candice instructed Jarrod, “Wait for me in the car. I’ll be back soon.”
“Yes, Miss Blake,” Jarrod replied dutifully, pulling the car into the waiting area.
Candice walked into the lobby of the building, where the receptionist recognized her immediately and led her directly to the CEO’s exclusive elevator.
“Thank you,” Candice said, taking the elevator up.
As she approached the CEO’s secretary station, Blair stood up and greeted her with a slight nod.
Candice nodded in response.
“Hello, Miss Blake,” Blair said. “The CEO is currently occupied. Would you like to wait for a moment?”
Candice glanced at her watch and replied, “I’m in a hurry. I won’t go in. I just want to greet him at the door.”
Without objection, Blair allowed Candice to proceed. She headed straight for Milton’s office.
The door was slightly ajar, and the room was so quiet that not a single sound could be heard. The blinds were drawn tightly, making it difficult to see inside.
Candice hesitated, her knuckles hovering over the wooden door.

Did she really need to meet with Milton in person? A simple message of gratitude would suffice. After all, Corless’ case was not only about her but also involved Milton.
However, since she was already here, it would be strange not to go in.
She debated whether to turn back but finally relented, reaching for her phone. “I have finished the talk with Belinda. Thank you for your help today,” she typed quickly, her fingers tapping at the keys with practiced ease. She didn’t want to see him anymore, but it wasn’t entirely true to say that.
She stepped back.
Every time they met, Candice found herself becoming more and more drawn to Milton.
As she turned to leave, a woman’s low voice caught her attention, coming from Milton’s office.
Her curiosity got the better of her, and Candice pushed the door open just enough to peek inside.
The door creaked as it swung open, and what she saw made her heart sink.
